Hi,
After a long few years, I have just been told that ME/CFS is responsible for my issues. I’m working out how to manage my role as a carer for my son and the diagnosis… it’s nice to have found this community x

It can sometimes take a while to get used to and adjust to a new diagnosis. Do you have any family or friends that could help you with this? Have a look around and join in when you are ready. You might like to start with the Games Lounge or the Coffee Lounge for chats. They are both under Categories. If you have any question please ask. Take care.

Hi @Kate79, welcome to our community Sounds like you've had a bit of a difficult time, but at least you have an answer to what is causing the issues?
About helping with the care needs of your son, we have a section about getting help via Respite Care. You have a legal right to be assessed to see what the local authority can do to help with the carer duties.They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

Thank you so much for this. I appreciate it so much. I do have a very supportive family but it’s getting my own head into the space of being the caree rather than the carer. Apparently I am not so good at asking for help!

@Kate79 I was the same, it can take time and it still doesn't always feel right when I do ask for help. I'm so glad you have found the community Hope you have been keeping well?Hannah - She / Her
