It's because the vast majority of the price of a litre of petrol is tax. A litre of petrol without tax is about £0.45 or so in the UK.
Remember when the price of oil dropped to below zero during Covid. Petrol was still 99p a litre despite the raw ingredient being free. -
Agreed too much of the UK price is tax or duty, it's unacceptable, the price also affects the rate of inflation.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡
