Band 3 (c) waiting for medical panel assessment

I was supposed to have had my medical assessment result today but my housing officer was sick so she tells me next Monday 

im a stroke survivor with left side paralysis in my arm/ hand . I have a 2 year old .I’m a single disabled mum and  we are sharing a room. Determined to get out of this funk . 

Does anyone know what they might say .. I don’t understand how the points system works ?
Also did you have your area of choice met when you were housed? As I currently can’t drive .

where I live is pretty rural and because I get replies fairly quickly I’m hoping something will come up soon as there’s not many social housing in this area . 

here we have bands 1-5 similar to A-D

    No one can predict what they will determine from the assessment. There's no points system in my area, when I moved up to urgent medical priority it was because my needs changed and adaptions couldn't be done in the house I was living in, as I advised on the other thread where you posted recently. 

    When you say "did you get the area of your choice." Yes, I did but that's because I placed bids on areas I liked. If you don't like the area then you shouldn't place bids. You should only place a bid if you like that area. Don't bid just because you can. If you bid and then you're offered that property but then decide you don't like the area so refuse it, this could go against you. 

    Even if you are placed higher in the list due to medical needs this doesn't mean you will be rehoused soon, especially if there's not many social housing properties in your area.

    Thanks Luchia! All this waiting is doing my head in if I’m honest x I’d be happy with a ground floor maisonette as long as I don’t have to share a garden 😅

    I was exactly the same when I was waiting for my banding update, Just remember this is the worse part and it’s almost over with and at the end of it all you will have a lovely forever home for you and your little one.

    I’d suggest making a list of what you want from your new home, things like garden etc and then put a star or some form of mark next to the ones that are absolutely essential.

    I found this really helped me keep focused on the things that were essential so when you’re able to start bidding you can look at the list and compare it with the available properties to bid on.
    It can become quite overwhelming so I found it a great help, it’s also a great distraction while you are waiting to hear back. 

    Once your able to start bidding make sure that you love the place before placing a bid, take a moment and try and imagine if you could see yourself living there as if you win a bid and turn it down(without an exceptional reason) it can go against you, the bidding site for my council show you what place you would be in the bid(bare in mind some people cancel, decline or it isn’t suitable for them) if your in the top 10 you could even go have a nosey on your own if your able or if someone can take you, I found the Google Earth app also a great tool to have a virtual tour of the area and zoom in on the property.

    Thank you!! I’ve done all I can I just need to trust the process . To add to my worries they don’t have a bidding system.. they have a direct offer system . But like you say I just need to make a list of things I desire try to manifest it by imagining myself living there .. sit back hope and pray that it will tick all or most of the boxes .

    I’m surprised they don’t use the bidding system, They only use direct offers here for Band A(Homeless due to fire/flood etc)

    I’ve just got an email from them which I’m over the moon about . It says I have been award medical B priority within band 3 . 

    It says band 1 and 2 are urgent severe situations and both bands do not get to choose which area they would like to live . It also says I will be prioritised in my band and that they have assessed I am in need of a ground floor property. 😁

    Thank you ! I mean I plan on just saving my money so that I can buy my appliances and flooring and furniture but I just have to wait until they contact me with an offer . Wish sounds so indefinite but I’m just trying to remain positive i

    You’re right  if I refuse it I’ll even get moved further down or potentially booted off. There areas of choice I have are all really nice so hopefully It will be acceptable . The uncertainty is painful I admit.

    Just bear in mind they might offer you something outside of your preferred areas but that depends on the stock levels they have so would depend on how much social housing they have available.

    Thank you. Gosh, that's a terrible way of doing it. I would definitely prefer a bidding system. There's never many pictures but at least you can be sure it's the area you want before placing a bid. I was able to go and look through the windows of my house before I seen it and that was a bonus. I also knew the area was lovely too.

    Usually they only do it this way when they have a critical shortage of housing, it prevents properties been turned down etc, it’s a terrible system as the tenant gets no choice in their allocation and they can also bypass the preferred areas requested if necessary.

    By Critical Shortage it means even lower than the current housing crisis levels(which is already abysmal), Basically it means they have the bare minimum to 0 available properties.

    I did the same as you with my Bungalow, I searched the street on google earth and was able to find the property so had a good nosey around before the official viewing.
