The disability premium of £42.50/week is automatically added.

As your award is standard daily living you won’t be entitled to the Enhanced Disability Premium.

You will be entitled to Severe Disability Premium of £81.50/week if no one claims either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you.

The figures quoted are the new April rates.

What’s the reason you’re claiming Income Support? Is it because you’re a carer claiming carers allowance for looking after someone?

Has your PIP award been put into payment yet? If so and that was recently there may not have been time to include the disability premium in time for this payment.

You need to ring them to apply for SDP. The form can be filled in over the phone, it doesn’t take too long.

Your IS will increase by £124/week.

Hi yes and all backdated payments I received in 8 days of being awarded, so yes prob a bit too soon, I will give them a ring I just presumed it was automatic, thank you for your help, I never realised the additional payment, so the £124 per week is on top of the £50 I already receive I presume that also gets back dated from the time I applied for pip

Yes on top of what you already receive now. Paid from the date you rang to start your PIP claim. As I advised, the disability premium is automatically paid but the SDP isn't.

It may take a few weeks because a decision maker needs to make the decision to award you SDP before it can be included.

Yes the disability premium is automatic but a decision maker still needs to award it. If it's not added for your next payment then give them a ring.

So in theory if it's not added next payment it is adding on  to the back payments, do the back payments come on the same day as normal payments or are they spontaneous thank u

If entitled then it will be paid from when you became entitled to it. It may take a while for them to make a decision because of the length of time involved. The reason it wasn't included is because it's not automatically paid due to the criteria involved.

Not for housing benefit no. Can't advise about council tax reduction because all local Authorities have their own rules.

OK thank you poppy as I was going to ring them on Monday just to inform them of change of circumstances, I just presumed it did count  as income as my housing benefit has not went in as normal and I thought that was the reason why as my income support with disability on and carers allowance has made me not entitled to it

As you're claiming Income Support I would expect you to be either claiming carers allowance or have a child under the age of 5. If you're claiming carers allowance then yes there would be a carers premium included because carers allowance would be deducted in full from your IS. You would then receive carers allowance as a separate benefit paid either weekly or 4 weekly.
