pip changes

I like most people receiving pip are very anxious and worried about the new pip benefit changes been proposed by Sunack. I have severe mental health issues and ADHD and rely on pip each month. Will they just stop my pip payments if these new plans come in, or like LCWRA just apply for new claimants only? Surely he won't be allowed to snatch peoples pip away from them when they were previously told they were entitled to it!!
I have already had so called talking therapies which were of no help at all to me personally and seen a psycologist, is he now saying i must repeat these options again even though previously didn't work?
He really has no clue what he's talking about, how will stripping me of my little pip i get a month help me more, it will leave me more destitute and make my mental health worse creating more issues for an already overstretched NHS.

Please, try not to worry. This whole malarkey, and especially the one about getting talking therapies is nonsense. You very well know, as you have been through it, that appointments to see a counsellor take 6-8 months, and to work through 6-8 appointments can take months. Specialists, good luck with that, a Psychiatrist can take well over a year.

This is not practically possible. It will never happen.

What may happen is to push some jobseekers claiming anxiety toward CBT, but that will fail miserably because they will be on waiting lists and counsellors dont grow on trees and the NHS will not contract the odd chap that comes out of a level 3 course.

With ADHD and problems ongoing for years you will pass any review (when times comes). This is aiming to deter "anxious" young professionals that wont take job offers.

Try not to worry. That guy and his party will not even be in office next January (if not sooner). I am not politically positioned at any direction, its a fact of numbers and unacceptable behaviour over the last 4 years.

    Dont worry.
Thanks for your advice it's very helpful and reassuring, his comments did actually make me poorly yesterday with worrying about my future under this awful government. Like you say hopefully they won't be in power much longer or sooner if we all pray!! Many Thanks.

what amazes me about all this is they are saying there is no pip fraud but targeting the disabled. They currently pay 8million a ay for illegal immigrants in hotels but are trying to make brits suffer. Its disgusting

I believe Fraud in relation to PIP is very low so it has been unhelpful for media and the Governments own narrative to suggest otherwise.

I do however think that longterm the rising cost of the PIP benefit is unsustainable and any Government in power will have to address this, whether that’s through doing away with PIP completely and replacing it with something else or more likely a tightening up of the PIP criteria for those applying….ie, prove that you are ill and have an evidenced medical condition.

I don’t think it’s helpful to play PIP against immigration even if that is your belief….yes they do spend a lot of money on this and the whole thing is getting out of control, but I am sure that there is wasteful spending on a hundred other policies that could save the Government money in the short and long term.

I think whoever ends up running the country has their work cut out and I have no idea why anyone would want the job of prime minister as you are constantly between a rock and a hard place, having to justify to all parties why you have done x,y and z

PIP numbers are currently so high because of NHS waiting lists for mental health services and operations. This cruel government has a clever way of blaming disabled people for the mess they created in the first place with cuts to services in every sector. The answer isn't to do away with PIP because they now think too many people are claiming it, or that they shouldn't be on it at all. There should be more help with mental health services and a better understanding by qualified assessors in this area when carrying out these brutal PIP assessments which cause even more distress.

I do agree that maybe it needs replacing with something less hostile and not just doing away with it, leaving vulnerable people destitute and more worse of than they were in the first place. The whole benefits system is built around punishment, sanctions, and threats, when it was designed to be a saftey net in times of need. There is too much talk from polititions and the media about either unemployed or disabled people being lazy, scrounges, or not being poorly enough to claim PIP, none of which is actually true.

The majority of people on benefits are very honest and only claiming them because they don't have enough to live on, none of which was caused by themselves, but this government who crashed our economy, cut all public services, wrecked our NHS, no dentists, no mental health services and much much more.

Maybe if we all showed a bit more compassion towards those who are sick, needy, and vulnerable, instead of making out their milking the system and not really ill things might just improve for the better.

Good point about the vouchers, I suffer from ADHD, Anxiety, and CPTSD, are they going to give us vouchers when we can't get to the shops? It would be ridiculous to also stop PIP payments as cash payments, can you imagine the distress it would cause to people who are already suffering either mentally or physically. It would make them more poorly putting extra burden on NHS services, charities, mental health services, all which are currently on their knees.

This government likes to cause distress, division, panic, and misery to rhose who are too unwell to properly defend themselves, a bit like a school bully picking out the weakest in society, the sooner they're gone the better, hopefully the next government will abolish these cruel changes.
