Fit note
I've been asked to send a new fitnote. I was not alerted to this by email as is usual. I'm on LCWRA and Esa Support
When I clicked on it, at the bottom it said, "If you don't want to continue, you can cancel this change" I don't understand what that means? What change? And what would happen if I did "cancel this change". Would it start a new claim? Would it mean I don't need a fitnote as I've been through a miraculous recovery?
It was out of office hours when I saw it and I've sent a message to the work coach but in the meantime I'd welcome some advice, thank you

It will be an error and there's been a few threads about this on here. In fact my daughter had the same back in 2021 and it's still on her to do list.
You can cancel what you clicked on and nothing will happen. Put a message on your journal and tell them you've been asked to provide a fit note but you already have LCWRA. As you're aware you do not need to provide any fit notes. They will either remove it or ignore it.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I sent a message and they replied that I don't need to send a fitnote and removed it. They told me to cancel anymore that come through. I hadn't been notified by email to look at my journal when it appeared. This causes a lot of unnecessary stress. The way the government are going for people on benefits you get wary of things like this.

If it happens again you won’t be able to cancel that yourself. Though it’s unlikely to happen again.
I see from a previous thread that you’ve recently migrated from Tax credits but was also claiming ESA, in the Support Group. The reason why it appeared is because they didn’t switch off the automated messages asking to provide a fit note.0 -
Thanks. I also read that if you are on PIP then you don't get moved to UC.
Is that true?

You have misunderstood what you read because that's not correct. You are already claiming UC anyway because you migrated from tax credits.

My son has cerebral palsy and gets PIP enhanced. He also gets the severe disability element for working Tax because he is self employed. He hasn't migrated yet and that's why I asked. But I now understand that the migration is because of the tax credits, sorry
When he's told to migrate he wondered if he'd need to do a capability for work assessment or because of his PIP and Disability element would he be seen as LCWRA and not gainfully employed as his income is well below the threshold on UC. We are both worried about it
Thanks

No need to be sorry, UC is complicated and confuses many people. Your son will not automatically be found to have LCWRA. When he claims UC he will need to make sure he reports his health condition and provide a fit note within 7days. He will then be referred for a work capability assessment.
He needs to make sure he continues to provide fit notes without gaps until a decision is made on the WCA.
As he's self employed then he will need to attend a gateway appointment with a work coach at his local job centre.
If found to be gainfully self employed he will be given a 12 month start up period where the minimum income floor will not apply. If he's found to have LCW or LCWRA then the minimum income floor will not apply, even after the start up period.
He wil also need to make sure he reports his earnings and expenses on the last day of each assessment period. He will need to do this even if found to have LCW/LCWRA.

Thanks, he hasn't got his migration notice yet so I won't stress him with the thought of a capability for work assessment just yet. But it's good to know what's ahead of him.

I have all this to come.I can’t get a fit note until wed .It runs out sat.I lost my job and was sick.IAnd wanted to put my claim in tommorrow online..So I’m going to see what I can do without it and not finish it so it’s in together. But I know from when my husband when he started esa he had bother as doctors kept doing fit notes late .Then putting wrong backdated date on.No one told him they didn’t have to be handed in when he went through everything.A friend told him.

If it's Universal Credit you're going to claim tomorrow then please be aware of the advice I gave on your other thread about your final pay from your employer on 26th June. If you claim UC before this date then your final earnings for UC could reduce your UC to zero, which is why I advised you to wait. Of course you can also use a benefits calculator to check entitlement now based on your final earnings.
