Managed migration starting September 2024

honey no you don’t
Managed migration has been riddled with problems so far (see below)
Honestly whoever wins the election I think I’ll personally be judging them if they don’t pause managed migration rollout before sept 2024 as that bar chart in the link is horrendous and needs to be looked into before rolling on

@apple85 I was meant to have commented earlier but got side tracked with things at home and then forgot.
Thanks for that link, it was an interesting read. I was already aware of some of it, especially the TP errors, concerning those migrating from Tax credits. This is because HMRC are rather slow in sending the information to DWP for the final figures, which then delays the calculation of TP. A lot of people haven't had that calculation in time for their first payment so it's then calculated after that first payment. There's been some members here that have had that issue. Including others on another forum which I'm a member of. It's certainly caused a lot of worry for many people.
Interesting to read about the Enhanced Support Journey too, which I'm hoping will help those that have severe mental health issues.

The so called Enhanced 'support' journey won't help me at all because I am unable to have direct dealings with them & I have no one who could be an appointee for me even if I wanted one which I don't. I have been claiming ESA on the papers for years, so have always been able to keep my distance from dealing with anyone in person. There appears to be no provision at all for people like me. I have no idea how I am supposed to complete the claim for UC. I will be able to fill in the online application, as long as I don't have to do it for more than 5 minutes at a time, but I cannot go to the jobcentre and I can't speak to them on the phone so as it stands I will be unable to have the initial interview or accept the claimant commitment. They better not start knocking on my door either because that will send me into a complete panic.

There will be ways around it for people like yourself, as I advised to you previously. With regards to agreeing to your commitments then you can do that through your journal. The only commitments you will have will be to agree to report all changes anyway, which is the same for your ESA.

But there are no ways at the moment, which has been flagged by many of the benefits advisors. There is no way to complete a new claim without some sort of person to person contact, either in person or by phone, unless you have an appointee, which I don't. I know you don't want people to worry, but we can't sleepwalk into this by assuming that they will fix this, the way they have treated many vulnerable people in the past and indeed present, proves that they MUST be held to account. Otherwise we risk thousands of people becoming destitute because everyone just hoped for the best.

If labour gets in do you think they will halt it

I have no idea. With a trial in 2 areas having already started it may not be halted but who knows…

Wait what? im on ESA support group when i go onto LCWRA element uc i will get £120 extra a month?

I don't think so, it was reported that the people pressing for the change were the DWP bosses themselves, who will stay the same regardless of the election result. However it has been noted by many charities & law groups that they have still not come up with sufficient assurances that processes have been put in place to protect the vulnerable who may struggle to claim. So, there's hope that someone might delay it till they do. I doubt we'll make it to 2028 now though.

If your ESA includes the Severe Disability Premium and you claim UC before being invited through managed migration then you will be worse off.
My advice in the comment you quoted applies to those that do not have SDP included in their ESA.

Hi everybody,
I am terrified about the migration.
Is there anybody who is trying to stop it? Whatis the new government doing?
Is any charity objecting the escalation of theprocess?
The dates 2028/29 were for a reason, I think theywill have backlog and people will be left without the payments orwill be reassessed, and lose the Severe Group and then will bewaiting for ever for Tribunals?
Does it mean that over the coming years they willnever increase for example my housing benefit, until all the disability premiums erode?? Thats madnes and pure robbery?
Were the later dates to give us sense of false security?
Is there nobody trying to stop this evil move?
I have written to my local Labour MP, what eles can we do?

@Ala The Government haven't said anything at all.
When they start sending out migration letters for those claiming Income Related ESA there will not be any backlogs. Once you submit your claim it takes about 5 weeks for your first payment. Income Related ESA will continue for 2 weeks, same as housing benefit and then stop.
When you migrate across you will not need another assessment, if you're in the Support Group for ESA then you'll be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of your claim.
If your UC includes Transitional Protection then yes this erodes over time so if other elements increase or you become entitled to other elements the TP decreases. Therefore, they are freezing your benefits.
The later dates were given because they thought it would save them money because those that do not have the SDP included in their ESA are better off by claiming UC.

the timetable move for the 2028/29 group to a September 2024 start date still hasn’t been 100% confirmed
by That I mean the official dwp page for uc managed migration rollout timetable is still showing the original 2028/2029 dates
At most we are still at the pencilled in stage (which is a bit ridiculous that nothings been confirmed yet only 7 weeks before these new dates are meant to come into - uncertainty produced from what looks like dwp disorganisation isn’t a great look imo)
common sense wise we know a third of legacy claimants haven’t successfully moved over to uc and the old ‘2028/29’ group includes some of the most vulnerable legacy claimants in the country (yet the dwp wanted to speed through the final most delicate part of migration to get to the finish line asap)Personally if it was up to I’d pause uc migration for the rest of this calendar or financial year (jan or April 2025) then start the ‘2028-2029’ managed migration in jan-april 2025 with a completion date of April 2027 or April 2028 (make the migration period 24 or 36 months instead of the proposed 12 month timeframe (which was the plan even with the old 2028/29 dates))
what upsets me is that the Tory gov/dwp announced this timetable being brought forward & sped up plan less than 6 months ago causing extreme panic and anxiety amongst the disabled community - but now labour are choosing not to provide any updates or date confirmations leaving this community in limbo (so further anxiety from the uncertainty of what’s going on)I know that some will say ‘Labour have just gotten in, give them a chance’ - but to me if they don’t have time to tackle rollout and give regular updates then you got to pause - the silence is deafening and honestly disrespectful imo
