Good morning everyone and thanks for all the lovely good wishes. We are so happy. Its nice having something to celebrate rather than all the bad things that have hit us the past couple of years.
It was a bank holiday here yesterday so we stayed at the caravan park as there were lots of road closures due to the marches all over.
It was lovely not having to drive!
@nicebrit hope your car comes soon. @teigr no date set but meeting the registrar in a couple of weeks to get that sorted. We are keeping plans small.
@sandy123 sorry you had a bad reaction to the antibiotics
@lou67 enjoy your day for a really worthy cause
@rubin your decorating themes sound awesome
@66mustang I will check out that camel site as I order a lit from Amazon.
Tagging isn't working but hi everyone and have a lovely day 😊

Typing up a good morning before I go through the discussion! Just wanted to say that your post did get caught up in a filter @Marydoll5, I just approved it, I was dealing with something that popped up first thing in the morning I apologise!

@Marydoll5 it's a really good site
Just don't fall into the habit of buying stuff you don't want just because the price is low 😂
I wonder how they came up with the name for the site, maybe they really like camels??

@66Mustang Well, there's certainly some benefits to a wheelchair! I'm not a wheelchair user, but I can't imagine it makes up for the inconvenience society has left in place for wheelchair users, but at least there are some perks.
@talis I'm sorry to hear that talis, I've had days like that before with my Crohns. Do you have a hospital clinic team you can contact at all?
@Lou67 That sounds like fun! What would you get your face painted as? 😋 I can't get my face painted, I don't know why but I had it done once as a child and my skin reacted and it felt like it was burning. Had to wash it off asap.
@rubin16 Enjoy the greggs! I think it's the only "fast food" type place I still visit. I haven't been to a mcdonalds, burger king, KFC now in years. Still enjoy Greggs though.

We have a Scottish holiday here to yesterday was Fair Friday it’s actually an old holiday it’s Fair Fortnight. Years ago all the factory’s and works in Glasgow finished up on Fair Friday but it’s a shame as now you’d hardly even realise it.Anyway I rabbled on there lol I hope you enjoy your day.

@Jimm_Scope
Hi I hope your keeping well. I was actually joking about the face painting lol but I might just do it to cheer my grandkids up and let them choose what I get done. 😊0 -
I know it's not considered an acceptable thing to say these days, but my uncle was the first to admit, his disability was very much down to his lifestyle - he was a very unserious man and he used to joke that the only reason he used to use his legs was to walk to the pub so if someone had to lose their legs, at least it wasn't somebody more active 😂

Typical missed my bus back by literally seconds , got to wait 25 minutes now. I've signed up with boots to get my scripts and deliver them.

That's a shame @Sandy_123
We just walked Jenson for 3 miles

Thats a good walk @66Mustang keeps you and Jenson fit. I'm home now resting with a coffee

I hate it when that happens too Sandy! Worse when the bus is every hour like it can be in my area.
and then even worse when the bus an hour later doesn't turn up at all due to driver shortages.0 -
I have a lot of respect for bus drivers
They get just over minimum wage for driving round towns and dealing with traffic and handling the customers as well
Train drivers just go in a straight line and don't have any interaction with the passengers but they get £75,000+ a year
I might have ready misinformation here, but if it is true, I wonder how that's fair??

Our bus drivers went on strike last year and got a very good pay rise. Of course the bus fair went up to support it. Getting 18.43 and hour.
It is annoying @Jimm_Scope

I have a friend in the bus industry actually, the reason there is a constant shortage of bus drivers is that all the private bus companies don't bother training new drivers as much as poaching drivers from other companies. Because it's much cheaper to give a bus driver from another company a slightly better offer than it is to train a new driver just for them to be poached by another private bus company.
So they're all just taking drivers from each other and not training enough new drivers to keep up with demand and older drivers retiring.

What is a job worth? Is that an easy question to answer?
What should they earn? Are they earning too much, or are other jobs earning too little?

The thing is, why would someone train as a bus driver for £18 an hour when a train driver gets like 2-3 times that
I remember looking into being a pilot, this was over 10 years ago so prices will be different with inflation
It was £250,000 to train to be a pilot so over a 30 year career it costs you £11-12,000 a year with interest
A train driver earns about £10,000 less than a pilot a year so you're better off being a train driver
Obviously if you became a pilot for free via the RAF or just because it's something you love then that would sway it but the numbers were quite interesting to me

It is crazy my daughter in law gets a stupid wage in police force putting herself in dangerous positions where my son earns more with less danger. Same as drs nurses etc. Retail workers get same as carers. It's all muddled up isn't it
