Hi, my name is Topcat71! Can someone explain the 3 month wait for LCWRA?
Hi all I need your help please.
I had a phone assessment for lwcra on 9th July 2024. I was told on the 21st of July I been awarded the highest amount of lwcra.
Please can someone explain this 3 month wait .
Will I receive approx 416 payment in September or will the September payments include 3 payments.
If I receive no back payment in September and just the approx 416
Will I see thR 416 paid every month thereafter until I am review again which they said will be in 12 months time.
I welcome your help
Thank you very much. TC

Hi @Topcat71 - & welcome to the community. LCWRA is an element that's paid on top of your standard allowance. There's 3 full months waiting period before this will be paid. This depends on when you provided your first fit note & when your assessment periods are (or you can just say the date you're usually paid). You also should have provided continuous fit notes until you got the decision on your WCA (i.e. 21 Jul), so no gaps from your first fit note. (If you live with a partner that already claims LCWRA, then only one such element is payable for a couple).
If you can let us know these dates someone will be able to work out when you'll get your first payment. Once in payment you'll receive this extra LCWRA element of £416.19 each month until a decision is made on a future WCA. Altho it says you'll be reviewed in 12 months time that won't necessarily happen as it's an ongoing award until a new decision might be made.
So,
Date first fit note
Dates of your assessment periods, or when you're usually paid

Thank you for taking the time to reply I really appreciate it if you could give me a idea of first approx payment. Thank you
Dates on doc certificate from 6/6/24 til 6/6/25
Universal credit payed 23rd of every month
As I work 16 hrs they said I get approximately
Lcwra every month 416
Universal credit 363
Pip 290 standard
Because of pain I take morphine before work and during to get through 4 hrs shift day at 16 hours a week.
However my body had enough and now being awarded Lcwra I want for now pack up work.
So my question is if I finish work then will receive the 3 benefits above no change as I don't need to sign on.
Many thanks again it all helps to know your entitlement. I actually ask my jobcentre via journal 10 months ago could I apply for Lcwra and they replied via journal. No you are not entitled to Lcwra because I was work 22 hours. So I kept reading if you get pip regardless of hours work over 16 you can apply for it.
So contacted jobcentre via journal again and they said yes you can apply for Lcwra as I get pip. So that like a year I missed out on payments. I have it recorded via journal response.
I can't see I can anything back dated now
Thanks if you can answer the above. Thank you

Was the 6th June the date you provided that fit note? Can you please confirm that you didn't provide a fit note before that date?
If you didn't then your waiting period for the LCWRA element will be as follows.. June/July, July/August, August/Sept… LCWRA element starts from 17th Sept to 16th October and first payment will be 23rd October. You are not owed any LCWRA element, this is because it's not paid at all during the waiting period.
As you're receiving earnings from working, if you didn't previously have the work allowance then you will now be entitled to that. If you don't claim for help with any rent then your work allowance will be £673/month. This means you can receive that much earnings before any deductions apply. The work allowance will apply from assessment period 17th May to 16th June so you will be owed some money from that.
PIP will continue as normal.
If you give up work then your UC will still include the standard allowance of £393.45/month, Then from your October payment it will be an extra £416.19/month. With no earnings the work allowance will be irrelevant. You will not be expected to attend any appointments.

The jobcentre said this do why I thought it be reviewed.
. You have been found to have Limited Capability for Work Related Activities and we have been asked to review your circumstances again after 12 months. You will be sent a letter advising you when any review starts. Please keep your account up to date by reporting

LCWRA is an ongoing award until a new decision says otherwise, it doesn't just end because it has no end date. The timescale they give you for a review is just a guide and doesn't really mean anything.
Reviews for the majority of people that have LCWRA have been suspended since 2020. When they do eventually start back up there's highly likely going to be backlogs. For this reason you may not be reviewed anytime soon.

My pip runs to FEB 2025 but they do a review now since getting lcwra. Is this normal to do this. Worried they stop that now early

That review for your PIP has nothing to do with being found to have LCWRA. You were due a review anyway because usually they contact you about 8 months before the PIP award is due to end.
There's extremely long delays with review decisions for the majority of people so you could be waiting anything up to a year for a decision. Your PIP will continue until a decision is made.

Thank you for the information it's much appreciated. All these telephone calls and forms puts me on edge. Thank you nice to know support is here. Jobcentre very selective in what questions they answered. Thank you

You're welcome. The UC helpline or a job centre are not places I would advise anyone to go for any advice.

My pip runs to Feb 2025 and the review submitted form taking place now. If I was to be refused PIP would I still see payments til Feb 2025 as stated in first letter. I welcome any advice just on edge over it all at the moment. Thank you

Any new decision made on a review overrules your current award so if refused then your PIP stops, even if it's before the award actually ends.
However, due to the extremely long delays with review decisions then you could be waiting as long a 1 year for a decision.

Thank you. It really seems unfair I am awarded pip to feb2025 but need to return review by july 29th or it would be stopped. So not really feb 2025 is it. I just hope I get awarded pip again with recently getting LCWRA award last week. Thank you for your time I really appreciate this. Thank you

Yes, the form needs to be returned. You can ring them to ask for extra time and they will give 2 extra weeks. As I advised, there's extremely long delays for reviews. I returned my form in November 2023 and I'm still waiting for a decision.
If your PIP is due to end before a decision is made then it will be extended for up to 1 year.

Thank you. I try put it to back of my mind I was thinking I get a reply soon after receiving text say they received the review back. One year wait wow I amazed they don't ask to review again after that time passed. Many thanks again I really appreciate your time and help. Thank you
