there's able bodied & minded people that chose not to work, surely they should be the ones targeted not the long term disabled. People on GB news etc saying 'oh it's beneficial to work if feeling depressed or anxious', makes my blood boil.. I wish i could show them my scars, they have no idea.. People that enforce this will have a lot of blood on their hands

Talk tv, radio the same. They pick on us because we are easy prey. What about able bodied people who get some sort of benefits, Are they going to be forced to work. I doubt it

I can't engage directly with the DWP, I have all my assessments done on paper and if I've needed help in the past I've had to get benefits advisors to do it for me.

Does he actually think that people with severe MH issues have a 'duty to engage' ? Because if that happens, that's a quick way to get rid of us...

Doesn't this hideous act against the ill & vulnerable have to go through parliament before anything happens?, surely there can't be that many Labour mp's that would agree with this as i guess there will be many of their constituents wanting appointments at their surgery.. Surgery.. how the irony.

Was on This morning getting disabled back to work was only talk of what people can do no mention of they can't work amd that's all I hear them say worklessness inactive might as way say sponging lazy parasites been horrific the way we been treated and the silence speaks volumes this is all aimed to 2030 also noticed loads of people getting pip reviews renewal to 2027 I think that's when the last lot of us on esa support group will be fazed out to health benefit pip which will literally have 0 chance of getting whilst also taking us out of ECHR lowering our rights even more their doing everything definitely great reset including food digital benefits the lot what as people can we do

I noticed the same thing - they dont seem to consider a person may not be able to work or find a job that fits with their disability. The silence of the government about support for those who cant work is simply not an option it seems and I agree with others opinions here that most pip reviews are for 2027 and the fazing out of ESA etc…

It is incredibly sad that disabled people who have been through so much are once again being treated as the problem when it comes to balancing the the books. There is money to send weapons of destruction to bomb other countries but not for the disabled. If we can borrow to fund never ending wars then what about protecting the most vulnerable in society?

I fear that in the future that even if disabled people are "lucky enough" to have such severe disabilities that they are unable to work, that they will be given food vouchers and a pittance to live on.

Labour seem no different to the Tories when it comes to being harsh and cruel when it comes to benefits which they seem to forget is supposed to be there as safety net.

It's pathways to work solely working on what you can do it's pure dread saying want 80 percent back in working market !! They will start with new claimants with tightened criteria for esa then legacy benefits will be up for review under tightening esa so making it impossible for us so esa be fazed out and pip will be main benefit and they will stop it as means tested this is my opinion

Yes find £84 million to send to Africa etc for ending migration, this crazy plan Stamer come up.with.

Won't work. But this money should be used for UK and not to pick on disabled people. Why can't they separate people who able bodied who can and wont work and those with mental health and physical health who can't . It's not that difficult surely

Shame on Liz Kendall for putting praise toward these disgusting proposals..

    https://www.disabilitynewsservice.com/fresh-dwp-fears-after-kendall-helps-launch-report-that-calls-for-duty-to-engage-and-cuts-to-disability-benefits/

The new report put forward outlines that the long-term sick and disabled should be ''forced to engage'' with employment services. ''This would mean disabled people who currently do not have to engage with the department and its work coaches – for health or disability-related reasons – would be forced to do so''

Kendall made a similar commitment when she told the launch event: “Under this government there will be obligations to engage with support, look for work and to take jobs when they are offered.”

Despite its calls to force more disabled people into work – and to cut benefits – the report completely ignores the serious safeguarding issues within DWP, including those linked to the work capability assessment (WCA) process and universal credit and efforts to pressure disabled people into work or work-related activity. Kendall and her party have themselves repeatedly ignored the DWP safeguarding issues in the lead-up to the election, and since they won power.

The report calls for reform of the WCA and for “more regular reviews of work capability” through the “duty to engage”, however there is no mention of the potential risks to disabled claimants..

It just gets worse. What part of totally unable to work or engage with job centre do they not get?! It's like if they pronounce, so must it be.

Does anyone think it would be good to contact her & show her the link to this thread??.. She will have a lot of blood on her hands if this goes through, i'd gladly show her my scars.. So many people on news & current affairs shows saying it's good for mental health to be engaged in work as it 'takes yer mind off things' blah blah. They have no idea..

I never thought I'd say leave it as it is I'd rather torturous assessments than them changing questions on wca and pip to make them impossible to get
