Pip reassurance
I am hoping this may help calm some people.
Mr Timms has confirmed there was a massive 16,000 responses to the consultation. He also stated labour would be reading those and considering their own approach. This suggests they likely aren't interested in the tories nasty ideas.
However If they were to push it forward there will be tremendous backlash.
And it would take many years the process would be as follows in the unlikely event it's not binned.

Hello Everybody,
It is good news that the voucher idea seems to have been abandoned though I was disappointed by the small percentage of PIP claimants and disability charities that participated. My big worry is that PIP will be means-tested like the Winter Fuel Payment. I am not entitled to means-tested benefits because of a few savings. I cannot work because of a severe life-long disability. I live on my own and am finding things very difficult as things are. Without PIP I would have absolutely no income. Could it be taxed? That would be better than means-testing.

I am in the same situation as you because I am not entitled to means tested benefits.
I had to take early ill health retirement age 47 and I have a small occupational pension plus a bit of savings for my old age.
We still have the extra cost of disability that pip is paid for and I feel it would be horrendously wrong and highly discriminatory if it becomes means tested.

I think pip will become means tested. Which feels so unfair when you have high disability related costs but it doesn’t feel like they care.

Goodness knows what the government has planned. I'm going to tune out from it all until October. We will hear then from the horse's mouth so to speak on what changes there is going to be. It's out of our hands so to speak and speculating only causes anxiety.

I doubt that PIP will remain the same. I'd rather be taxed that have vouchers but even vouchers would help more than the zero I'd get if it were mean-tested like UC.
