LCWRA backpayment advise please

in Universal Credit (UC)

hi all, I was wondering if anyone can help. I have recently been accepted for LCWRA. I provided a fit note on my UC journal on 20th June 2024, however it had been backdated by my doctor to when I was unfit for work, which was 16th May 2023. Does this mean that I will get a back payment from last year or because I only provided the fit note in June 2024 I will not receive a back payment? Sorry if I didn’t explain that very well x

    It's highly unlikely you will receive anything from May 2023 because usually they don't accept backdated fit notes. If found to have LCWRA they will go from the date you provided that first fit note, not the date on that fit note.

    thanks for your reply :) I wondered because they had accepted the fit note as being backdated from May last year they might have backdated- I got my letter today stating I’ve got lcwra and it also said if I’m owed any money I will be told about it, so I got a bit confused x

    Yes, they will accept the fit note when you report it but won't accept the backdating when applying the waiting period for the LCWRA.

    The letter you received that mentions if you're owed money, is a standard letter. Your first payment will be either Oct or Nov, the exact date will depend on what date you usually receive your money each month.

    okay I understand, thank you. And when I get my first payment in October or November will that be one months pay or will it be for July/august/september (sorry for all the questions, I get so confused with it all!)

    No problem. It will be for one month because the extra money isn't paid at all during the waiting period.
