Fit notes n Lcw or LCWRA
Hi I wrote a couple of weeks ago, saying I was submitting fit notes in to universal credit since January. then I gets a phone said I was getting put in to a group, what I was told was the LCWRA group!! I phoned back the Universal credit asking what was happening they got the journal manger to phone me she said that I've been fed mixed signals I am in the Lcw group for now! until I get assessment she said I don't need to submit fit notes.. I asked why? I thought you need to submit fit notes until ur assessment she said no cause am in the Lcw group so confusing so how long does the assessment come threw as it's still with the Medical team thank and sorry for the long letter ..

Oh no @Ellon what an absolute pain, I'm so sorry they got some wires crossed somewhere. But the person on the phone was correct, once you've been granted LCW you don't need to hand in fit notes.
It could be several weeks until your assessment though unfortunately. I think the average wait is currently 8 weeks? Fingers crossed it'll be quicker for you!

The person you spoke to is incorrect and because you reported changes to your health condition you need to continue to provide the fit notes. If you don’t and you’re found to have LCWRA then it can affect when the extra money is paid from.

I'm making notes now, apologies!

It was a UC journal coach manager they said I don't need to submit any more fit notes! I got told today (UC )they have received my assessment back from the medical team now they need to look at it then a assessment letter will be sent out to me but there is a wait due to short staff might be sometime for assessment before I know anything

I'm not entirely sure this is accurate. I have been on LCW for nearly 2 years now and haven't submitted a fit note for about that long. I was also told that I no longer needed to provide fit notes and nobody has said anything in this time. I am still waiting for a decision on LCWRA.

They tell you that so they can pay you less!
Never take advice from a job centre. What do you think they are there to do? Help you get more money? No. They are expected to reduce the benefits bill any which way. You certainly can't rely on anything said over the phone.
Poppy has already advised Ellon to provide continuous fit notes and to get one backdated.

I can assure you the advice I've given is 100% accurate, if you reported changes to your health condition which prompted them to refer you for another WCA. If they referred you then you do not need to provide fit notes.
I've seen it happen so many times on here where they've refused to pay what is owed after changes have been reported and no fit notes were given when the decision was LCWRA and previously LCW.

Thank you. Yes, I completely agree that they advise this so they do not have to pay any money that maybe owed.
So many people think that because they've spoken to a case manager that their advice must be correct. All I can say about that is please do not be fooled because a case manager has been known to get it wrong so many times. Even a decision maker sometimes don't know their own rules.

Thank you for the Advice, with working all my life I don't know why they would treat people like this , I've spoken to my GP Il easy get a fit note again but they won't expect it also today they said they have received my Assessment back at universal credit, they need to look at it then a letter will be sent soon to say the out come so what should I do any help will do thank you n thank poppy for ur support

OK, well I'm screwed then, because I haven't even been getting fit notes.
I haven't reported a change in my health condition though. There is no change to Autism..

Was this a review started by DWP? If so then no fit notes were needed. When I mention "reporting changes" I mean actually logging into your journal and "reporting a change of circumstances" and then clicking health conditions. When you do this it should prompt the system to ask you to provide a fit note.

It wasn't a review. I was assessed as having LCW and still in the process of contesting that very first decision.
I've not reported any new health conditions I don't think.
I didn't think the original question had anything about change of circumstances, so this is what threw me. I thought you meant in general, if you're told no more fit notes.
I've just requested a fit note through NHS app for the length of time I've lived here (I've moved since the whole process began).
I am confused though, because I received another assessment back in January, I filled in the form but they never did anything with it. I thought it was because they were waiting to see what the outcome of this tribunal was, but my contact at the council said it wouldn't have an effect on a new assessment anyway..

Then you do not need fit notes. Your case is different. However, as you've now been referred for another work capability assessment any new decision made on that will overrule your current decision, including any decision made by a Tribunal. If the person at your council has advised otherwise then they are not correct.
Ellon's case is complicated and not enough information was given at the start when they first posted, and they were also very confused at the whole situation.

No, I think what the person at the council meant was that the decision I am waiting for won't have any impact on a new decision, as in, if it goes my way, that decision has nothing to do with the new assessment. That's why I don't know why they are waiting for the new assessment, if it has no impact on it. I don't know if I'm making sense.
OK, that makes sense, thanks.
