@Nightcity @Community_Scope Don't think this is escalation or anything, just statement of fact. I have just left the Labour Party. I refuse to be part of this. The contempt for fact, for the public, is just total. No attempt to explain why pensioners alone were singled out. Thrown any old nonsense from the run on the pound to 'no choice'. Reeves the robot parrot offering no examination of possible other ways of filling that black hole. No mention of or examination of the very different housing situations of pensioners, from owning their homes outright to being on Housing Benefit. Etc.

I can only extend my sympathy to anyone affected by the new cutbacks that are or may affect them.

I make no apologies for my concern for others that are less fortunate than myself.

We do not know what the government plan to do yet, and until we do we need to try and not make assumptions as they can cause unnecessary stress. Avoid scaremongering websites and use legitimate sources. We're all in the same boat and we want you to be able to vent, but we also want you to be aware that a lot of websites only want to sow fear into everyone and they make claims that are not based in fact.

Totally understand @Catherine21. The online community team all have disabilities and share the same worries as you. I said that we're happy for you all to vent, just be cautious as to what news sources you use as there's a lot of misinformation out there.

OK folks, it's September 12 meaning there are 25 days to go. We are not getting positive messages for all that it's speculation what will ensue. We have not been given even a quarter of a reason to think Kendall will give us a nice box of chocolates. So we can sit here getting ever more distressed, depressed, angry, frightened. Or not. However hard/impossible that is. Out of pure self-interest, let us all keep our cool, because it will not help to be distressed, depressed, angry and frightened. It won't help us solve any problems presented to us on October 7 or to find out and talk to whomever might be able to help us solve those problems.

Isn't the 'BIG' thing that we as a community i.e. SCOPE and others who share a commonness in that we have health 'vulnerabilities' that at times sets us apart from 'normal people'; that we should stick together, we have a voice, we should shout loudly so Government has no choice but to listen to our concerns and act in a way that is acceptable.

As a side note the Government could raise billions, it's easy, the top 250 companies in the UK has surplus cash, they are always buying out other companies for billions, just look at Shell so much surplus cash. The Government could borrow the money and pay it back as the economy grows.

Shell wouldn't even notice.

As we know, Housing Benefit is means-tested, but it is not a qualifying benefit for WFA. I can think of no reason why not and have asked my MP to ask the Chancellor. Will let you know if I get a reply.
