Scope's Brand Refresh

Once I find out, I'll be sure to let you know @WhatThe 😆
Though it does seem that younger disabled folk tend to think of charities as for old people, that's something that I think needs to change. I can totally be hip and down with the kids.0 -
In one line the moral high ground could have been seized and was not. In two words, public opinion. This is not getting at Scope particularly. None of the disability groups did. I have wondered why.

I like the format on the whole, but I'm another that's finding some of the additional new pops of colour just that bit too bright, especially the dazzling purple & yellow. My son already wonders why I have my screen's brightness turned down so much….it's because of here! Looks like I'll have to turn it down even further.
I believe the thread you're referring too @WhatThe is here:
I'm another still hoping that the issues some of us mentioned there will indeed be looked into; tagging, no preview option, difficulty with reactions & reporting, inability to only quote a selected part of a post, tempermental hyperlinks, which look fine until you post a comment, then revert to ordinary text, etc. I agree, it would be good to get some feedback/an update from the Scope team about these.
Another I just noticed yesterday……if someone's profile isn't set to 'private' you used to not only be able to look at their most recent comments, but at the bottom of those first visible there used to be 'More comments,' so you could look back even further. This was a feature that was sometimes useful in understanding a person's queries/concerns, etc. Has this 'disappeared' for good?

Hi all. We'll do our best to get some responses to your feedback as soon as we can, sorry you've been waiting so long.
Adrian will be able to explain better than me, but some of the niggly issues we're facing day-to-day are because of our platform which is the thing that the community runs on. It's not always easily or quickly fixed as we only have a certain amount of control, but we're doing our best to make the community run as smoothly as possible.

chiarieds, that's the one 🙏
Rosie, this new design is a huge strain on my eyes and others have said so here.
100 accessibility improvements it says were made following consultation. I can see that individual threads are now more streamlined and less fussy so you are listening.
I still can't see at a glance all the titles on a page or leap between pages to return to a thread so this is very restrictive and means we can't develop our discussions.

Hi all,
Apologies for the delay with some of these updates. Thanks for the feedback about the colours—we’ll take that feedback on board.
Firstly I want to share I very much share any frustrations with bugs that you're all experiencing. If you're experiencing them, I can assure you that we are too!
We’re aware of a few bugs on the site related to reactions, reporting, and tagging (and others that thankfully only the Community Team have to deal with!) These have been passed on to our platform providers. The more information, screenshots, or examples we can send them, the easier it will be to resolve these issues. So if you come across any problems, please feel free to PM a screenshot to Community_Scope.
Other issues may just be based on the structure of the platform we're using, but we're still looking into that now.
Regarding the editor (comment box) not having a ‘Preview’ button, unfortunately it's working as expected. The idea seems to be that what you type should appear exactly as it will be posted, making a preview function unnecessary. BUT, if you're noticing issues with how hyperlinks are displayed, that’s not supposed to happen. There are three settings for hyperlinks. Examples below:
Display as Text: Gov.UK -
Display as Rich Link:
Display as Card:
If you could provide more details about the problem you're experiencing, I’ll do my best to replicate it.
The ‘More comments’ issue is another known bug (it frustrates us too!), and we hope it will be fixed soon.

"making a preview function unnecessary"
Hi Adrian, I have also mentioned the preview button which is no longer available..
It helped me in the same way as printing off a letter allows me to proofread. It helped me judge spacing. Without it, I end up editing almost every post I make.
I have mentioned ACCESSIBILITY because that function on a draft comment is about accessibility, for me and at least one other member (doubtless others).
"unfortunately it's working as expected" - not for me!

Thank you for the feedback @Adrian_Scope - is the inability to only quote part of a comment going to be looked at too? It's frustrating when so far it seems only the whole of a comment can be quoted, which is often unneccessary.
When copying & pasting a link into a comment, for me, using poppy's suggestion of then using the 'Enter' button, makes a Rich link appear successfully such as below, for example
but after posting, sometimes it will just revert to https://forum.scope.org.uk
If I then go to edit a posted comment, it appears as if the hyperlink is displaying properly, but when saving the comment, it's no longer a hyperlink. Going back to edit again, deleting the hyperlink & replacing it again, looks fine, but is still not showing correctly after saving the comment.
These 2 links completely defeated me a while back:
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2212948
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC11084061/
They appear as hyperlinks before posting this comment, edited to add, & now they don't. This using a desktop computer.

Thanks @WhatThe, I appreciate the reasoning and agree completely. Unfortunately it's not something we can change on our end, so it would just be a feature request we would make of our platform provider. To be completely honest, it's unlikely anything will happen any time soon on that front as it can take a very long time.
We do share your frustration, I can't emphasise that enough. The team all want the same features you all want as we use them as well, but we're unfortunately limited by the platform the community is currently built on.

Hi @chiarieds, the issue with quotes is unfortunately not a bug. It's working as intended, which is very frustrating for us too as we try to only quote the relevant part of a message, but as you can see from above, I've had to quote your entire message.
You -can- open up the Special Formats Menu by selecting the quote icon and then selecting 'Quote', but then you have to manually input the text you want to quote which is a lengthy process, especially on a mobile device.
We have relayed these concerns, but as I mentioned about the preview function, it would be considered a feature request and probably won't result in anything in the short-term.

Adrian, I appreciate your fulsome explanation. It was good while it lasted then 😊
Earworm!! 😃

Earworm!! 😃 thanks, JessieJ
Adrian, I like this thread because it's easy to find!
I've mentioned how I have to scroll and scroll to see all thread titles on a page. Enlarging the font and boxes for each thread doesn't help me because I'd make those adjustments on my laptop if I needed them.
Then I have to scroll to the bottom of the page even though it's loaded to the top where there used to be another row of page numbers. We used to be able to jump to page 100 if we wanted then back again. Now we must slowly work backwards or forwards through each page number.
These changes make it harder to locate an interesting thread or read as many.

And…and still too wide for my laptop screen - the dark purple Scope bar at the top slices through the envelope icon and my avatar is off the screen 🤔

I can't possibly read all these comments, so forgive me if this is a repeat…
I would like a dark mode (I know someone did write that in one of the top few comments).
Every time I hit the like button, it refreshes the page and runs to the top, which is very annoying. What's more annoying is that I have to do this about 3 times before it actually puts the like on the comment. I know it didn't used to do this on the old website.

I would like to know why the date is in the American format Month/Day?
I keep looking at posts and think they are from September 2023, but in fact they are from 23rd September!!
It should be day, month, year… we are in the UK! I find it very irritating when American English is used over British English in this country!

Hi @Autism_at_40, is this the dates displayed for a post or comment? (So for example, anything posted today will say October 6)
I know it's not a full fix and I don't think there's the option on Mobile, but if you're using a PC or Laptop you can hover over the date link and it should give you an alt text that will show the date in UK format.
I can't promise anything as this might be another niggly setting that we don't have much control over, but I'll pass your feedback on to the team 😊

'Gotten' irritates me. No idea why people have begun using this nonsense over here 🙄
I have got
You have got
S/he has got
We have got 🙂

Yes it's the dates on comments and posts. Surely it should be default to British English?? American's are the only country in the world (I was once told) that do backwards dates like that.
I'm sure it would be appreciated if it could be fixed.
Thanks
