Housing have accepted me as homeless

So had an email from housing needs saying my homeless application has now been approved and they have a duty of care to take care of my situation within a certain period of time. I am currently in band B medical and they hope to upgrade this to A once environmental health complete their report ( for illegal eviction ) has anyone been through this and can give some notes on how the process was. I understand it still could be a while before resolved and I'm fine with that it's just how did people cope in a hotel room over a period of time what did they do to break up days? It's weird at 51 becoming a single fella again and sat in a hotel with suitcases and eating out every meal. Cheers

Hey @Will777, I'm glad to hear some movement has been made in getting you a place and you now have a hotel room and food.
If I was in your situation I would personally head down to the local library (if it's not been shut down at least) and take out a few books. Or even read them there to get me out of the room. I think staying in the room all day probably isn't in your best interests! Often if you have a local library they'll also have computers there for internet access to help with forms and more as well. Rather than having to do it all on a phone if you don't have a laptop.
I'm not sure what else I would do, I guess I'd try to walk around more. I'd go crazy just sitting in the hotel room all day, even with books to read!

Hi Will, great news that you've been accepted for emergency accommodation 😀

Walking is not something I can do too well at moment got surgery next month unless they cancel it due to my circumstances. Books I have anyway love reading but like the idea of somewhere to just go for a bit and go on computers. My ex has my laptop so will get it back eventually all being well. I am getting out for a drive during day maybe should go further afield just being tight with money at moment as definitely more expense living in a hotel food wise.

@Will777 I am 55 and I have been in this situation, i was placed in emergency accommodation for 3 months (not to bad) first then moved to a homeless hostel 2yrs 2 months and worked with my keyworker (try and keep yourself to yourself, alot of temping things happen, drugs ect), then i was placed in a special hostel 1yrs 1 month for mental and physical health, was given a in house support worker from the word go, i worked with my support worker and was eventualy given the lovely home that i am currently in and have been for 3 years now
A games console and repairing bicycles, a craft workshop and some light voluntery work kept me out of harm's way (I am not much of a book reader)
For any advice or help please message

That was a long turn around doesnt sound fun at all. Drugs are a big no no for me in any form so no worries there. I do have my retro gaming consoles maybe need to try and get them here to message around on was thinking of trying vr of can pick one up cheap.

I used an Xbox One and my phone as a hotspot and volunteered for the local food bank which was quite good as I got to choose what I wanted/needed and cost nothing except some of my time which I had an abundance of.
The key to it all is to work with any key worker or support worker provided, they make things a lot easier and even though it took a good deal of time things do happen a bit faster and you will hopefully get the help you need
All the best
