EDP is otherwise known as Disability Income Guarantee, which is what you're currently receiving with your Income Related ESA payments.

Hi @jude1967, we are when we can providing feedback to the government and advocating for disabled people when we can.
Can I ask if you did end up speaking to your MP at all? I know earlier you said they do not listen, but you could be surprised. There are quite a few MPs who will take the time to listen and take your concerns to parliament.

Using capital letters is classed as shouting through text speak and it's not really nice to read either.

The DWP cannot pass a bill overnight. All laws passed by parliament are available to view on the parliament website. A secretary of state can, through Acts, be given powers to make decisions instead of parliament. Is that what you are referring to? If there is a specific Act of Parliament you are referring to it will be publicly available to view.
Just to double check, did you reach out to your MP or not? I don't think I saw you say one way or the other sorry. As I mentioned in the my other, you can be surprised at how helpful your local MP can be if you work with them.

@jude1967
Countdown to compo, just watching my account 👀 👀 👀 ❓️ 😅 🤔 😊

Jim think you need to keep up with the courts and the law was passed and androgynous.the best part .the dwp Don.t no their own law they passed and fail to realise the papers we sign and it a labour dwp now so can.t blame it on the tories .as the labour government trying to do exactly the same .there a different allowance to the sdp and I think they would read out the legislation that's was put in was the sdp and not the edp.so does that meen the contract we sign with leigh day for our edp is a load of waffle or Don.t the dwp realise their contract we sign with them was to pay our edp back in lump sum and then on going payments .so in fact the dwp need to come back to us we have fought for our right not the charities and scope if u was then of course you would be up to date on all legal issues
As obviously it shows different

Still watching my account. Mid September has been and gone. The first banking week of October has been and almost gone. Now been told mid October. It's not like I haven't waited years already.
My patience has now expired. I want my compo. Now 👎
It's a simple transaction to make. 💰 💸

I completely understand your frustration with the delays in receiving your EDP compensation. Government compensation processes can indeed take a long time.
For instance, the EDP compensation is experiencing delays similar to other significant cases. In the Infected Blood Scandal, victims have been waiting since the 1980s, with full settlements not expected until late 2024 or 2025. Likewise, many sub postmasters affected by the Post Office Horizon Scandal are still waiting for their settlements years later.
I sincerely hope you receive your compensation soon. While it may not erase the hardships you have endured, it can help acknowledge the injustices faced and perhaps provide some measure of closure.

This isn't the EDP back payments which are owed to around 15000 people.
This is compo for stresses caused by the loss of disability premiums which have only been repaid in part to a small number of claimants who took legal action against the D*P.
Some people tried to end it all, some people probably succeeded, because of what we went through. I lost everything when I went onto UC including the equivalent Support Group payments.
LD has received those compo payments from the D*P. Don't get in touch with LD, get in touch with your bank.
The stress continues 😩 😪
For the record - I don't think anyone ( Including 15000 claimants,) will ever receive their EDP back payments.
We certainly haven't.

Hurrah, I've received my compo for stress. What can I say?
I got my figures wrong, there were around 71000 people affected by the loss of the EDP.
We've been to court, won our case, had to agree to drop the case in order to receive compo. Drop a case we won. It just doesn't make sense but compo was better than nothing?
I don't think the back dated EDP will ever be paid, the D** has spent so much time and money fighting and appealing this case, they will never treat these very vulnerable claimants fairly.
Am I going to Barbados with the proceeds? It's warmer there. No, but I can afford some heating this winter, now I've lost my WHP. I don't go on holiday like others on here do. How do they afford it on benefits?
It just goes to show the D** will always find a way to win, mean and underhand tactics to defeat the most vulnerable disabled claimants.
Do I believe they will ever pay those EDP payments?
No I don't
Time to move on

But I am still fight them .we sign that agreement with a promise they pay in bulk payment and then on going it..they denying g it but I copied all my letters of agreement .going to use it

Hi @jude1967
I have a new MP who seems far more proactive than my last MP who did zilch.
I'm thinking about getting in touch with them about this case, it seems the last course of action.
What I do find unfair is the original two claimants TP and AR received their backpay in full and ongoing, including the EDP. I have been told this on good authority because I specifically asked if they had received their EDP.
What about our human rights?
It's over 6 years ago since I had to claim UC. Although its only a relatively small amount, It adds up to a substantial loss of income. I don't think anyone appreciates how that affects some one who is severely disabled and claimants who may not live that long to play the waiting game.
There still exists thousands of claimants who fell through the safety net.

Well I been arguing my case with the dwp already got wks ..did you keep a copy of ur letter that we sign with the government it states we suppose to get a lump payment and on going .let's just say u should see my uc journal.as they tried to say epd was payed out and I asked them for proof also I had the law that came in wen they was suppose to pay us the £180 and over night brought into Law thr sdp ..but I stumped them on that also because I copied the law was passed and sent them that as its show only the sdp .which is correct .they didn.t like that and I told them I will come forward as put the contract I sign with them ..also yrs they did get their edp and compensation and now they stumped now as now they can.t answer .I kept the contract I sign with them and I told uc also..guess wat they now silent .lolol my mp useless and scope nos this as I brought it to their attention and guess wat scope and mind and all the charities still not stepped forward they can see it but ignoring the people who have suffered the injustice and still now if u look from out conversation done nothing yet again for us ..we ok wen they want to raise money for their cause .but seen this played out and still.yes still choosing to ignore.don.t they realise we done the fighting not these charities they also no they breaking the law of our human rights and the charities and scope have said nothing and I mean nothing as always .but they even removed my email address the other wk that I ask if there was anyone on here .I still waiting from my composition but that's nothing to do with the payment we agree and it's there in writing .but yep scope removed my email so only way now is through here .sad really because that shows that these charities have not supported in our quest for justice ..

Yes, I've kept copies of everything. It is frustrating when you feel you are the ones who have taken the D** to court and they've deployed the tactics of appealing a case they were never going to win, how many times, 4 times? That's alot of years.
I received my compo yesterday, at least. I think the greatest injustice is the fact two people received what we are fighting for. Two people received their EDP. How can that be fair? Or legal?
What makes them different to us?
Nothing.

Exactly and the dwp think we all stupid .byutvthe worst part Is the disable charities know about it and won.t even cross over and come to defend the injustice themselves..yes I kept mine because I knew this would happen and u not letting it go .it's how many thousand disable people and even though the court case was one
I myself and a few others are now wanting to call out the charities that sat back and watch our fight .it was bad enough even though they would only pay £120 of the spd they didn't.t then come to speak out then as always they doing exactly the same .not even coming out .and even supporting for the government to now pay wat we owed me not talking pocket change it's thousands I am owed since 2017 and we sign them form to get paid the lump sum and then payments on going till it fazed out like the sdp..I will call out the disable people that reckon they support us ..Web clearly like you seen from scope they very quiet ain.t they ..so I won.t be supporting them again and I will still name all the disable groups that I have come to which one is scope ..so come on scope where are you now ..if there was media coverage you defo see these charities that not supported the claims we have won.so scope wat your answer to us that u know exactly as we spoke about it on here ..so where are u now scope ..I can.t hear you ..that's about right silence as always.

I am the lead clamaint in the class action.
Due to negotiations edp back pay and the ensuing high court case is on a stay for another 11 months now meaning the dwp have untill then to pay or fruther court actions and compensation might be paid
IIt Could take nearly another year as a new transitional payment system must be applied as i beleave to compensate for the erotion of sdp with edp not factored
I hope that helps
