If your sister is claiming carers element of Universal Credit or carers allowance the she will have to work commitments for UC.

Do I understand correctly that many of those who wrote in this thread were told only the truth by their bosses at work, teachers, parents...?I take this to mean did we imagine we were being told the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?
Do we imagine we are told it now by any authority?

Are you saying that the people you depended on, and whom you could not seriously influence, ALWAYS told you the truth?

glad it wasn’t just me that was confused

yes but the reason someone is on a disability benefit is because they can't work or they would be on JSA
0 -
Not really. Disability benefits refer to PIP, ADP (for those in Scotland) or DLA. People do work and claim these benefits so not everyone is unable to work.
For benefits such as ESA and UC that includes either LCW or LCWRA there are some people that can and do work but they have a limited capability for work due to their disability. I do agree that some people are unable to work at all, just not everyone.
For the avoidance of doubt this doesn't mean that I think disabled people should be forced into working because I don't.

It used to be that there was a difference between tory and Labour, sadly now it seems they both despise us.
Thankfully there are still some good and decent people in positions of authority that care about the welfare of the disabled. Also groups like scope that make a stand for human rights of those most in need.
Together we have a voice

yes i see that thanks, am just wondering if they are rethinking it as i've heard nothing about making the ill go out to work, it just seems all about the winter fuel payment. If people can't work but forced to it will increase load on the NHS that they probably haven't realised, especially folks with depression & other mental health issues.

From actually reading the article a lot of the focus seems to be on programs and schemes to help get people back into work.
"People need to look for work, but they also need support.
"That's why I've gone out to look at schemes where businesses are supporting people back into work from long-term sickness.
"Quite often, I think what lies behind this is a fear for someone who's been on long term sickness that - 'can they get back into the workplace? Are they going to be able to cope? Is it all going to go hopelessly wrong?'"
There are a lot of people who feel like they can't get a job because there are still a lot of difficulty getting reasonable adjustments etc. I'm remaining optimistic that the goal is to help people find work and adjustments that supports them, rather than forcing people into work. I can't see that going well in the courts or tribunals unless they're also planning to scrap the Equality Act.

They are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Why are they going on about getting people into workplace instead of creating jobs working from home and bringing the workplace to a more manageable location. Thats the biggest flaw thats existed for decades. They trying to adapt people into the system, instead of adapting the system to the people.

I agree they'll certainly have their work cut out for them to find more businesses willing to go to 100% remote working. But I'm hoping it'll be workable.

I was looking at indeed for my area , there's nothing I could physically and mentally do. I can't drive, rely on buses which are **** in my area or taxis which are expensive. Can't do physical jobs due to joints and copd plus cleaning jobs are also out. As I it was one that caused copd in the first place. Even sales phoning as I'm no good on the phone to people I don't know , plus I'm coughing. Why are the government and the media so down on the disabled? . It's not our fault

Disability news service website which rounds up happening, says Liz Kendell has stated that the Dwp work coaches to go into Mental hospitals. Although it saying is backtracking on some bits. This is a new low for Kendell to sink too , And dwp ,

This is worrying about the budget and disability benefit. Does that mean that it's going to be taken away , the media scaremongering dosent help, this just constantly worrying picking on vunerable people any ideas on what it means

It just seems one thing after another since last year, who can worry and cause anxiety to the vulnerable the disabled, the pensioners. Which party can cause the most distress. How can they expect disabled and vulnerable to go to work. They are making everyone mental health worse which in turn causes problem physically as well through stress
No wonder she's doing a Halloween budget. Arriving on her broomstick to announce it
Apparently Rachel reeves is married to someone from the dwp. I bet they discuss what evil tactics they can cook up next

😆 🤣, yep
Just asking as a query to one of the people who answers our benefit questions
Esa and tax credits, I know are currently under way to UC But I read that the reasons why the other migrations was put back was the cost . So why on earth are they bringing it forward when it will cost them millions to do it.

Why cant they go back to 28, 29, for the rest of Esa . Save them money, they can iron out what's wrong with UC , get staff clued up. Save millions in the process. Someone should say this to this tyrant kendal. If reeves wants to cut welfare. At least go back to the original plan. Save us worrying

They are sending millions abroad on some crackpot climate change scheme, 22 billion again on climate capture thing in Liverpool. 300 pounds extra for train drivers to work a five day week, taken from winter fuel payments.
This government is a joke, Larry the cat could run the country better. Rishi sunak started all this by targeting us disabled, Ian Duncan Smith on his stupid UC , now this. Why can't they leave us alone. We struggle everyday as it is.

this is something else that I'm going to put to the assembly members because I believe it's a deep discussion
