Migration/Transitional protection?

in Universal Credit (UC)

Hi. After migrating ...I don't think my 1st statement is correct. ?

I was recieving approximately 300 per fortnight from esa

    Were you in the Support Group for ESA? If so then your UC should include the LCWRA element.

    No, that will not be the reason because claiming carers element for look after someone else will not affect Transitional Protection if your ESA included the SDP.

    Did your ESA start before or after April 2017? Were there any disability premiums included in your claim?

    Sometimes with Transitional Protection they don't always calculate in time for your first payment because the figures for your previous benefits may not have been sent across in time. When this happens, usually your statement is recalculated within the following week.

    I don't want to take this thread off-topic but I'm interested in the Housing Element reduction on your statement. Is that because you're in social housing or does it apply to private renting as well with UC?

    Thank you. I think the word 'landlord' confused me there. Made me think it was a private rental.

    Hopefully you will get Transitional Protection added in the next payment to cover the loss of SDP.

    Then your UC should include some TP. As I advised, it’s not unusual for them not to calculate this in time for your first payment because they don’t always receive the figures from the previous benefits departments in time.

    Put a message onto your journal under the payment section and tell them you believe your payment is correct and that your ESA included the SDP.

    1 spare bedroom for social housing is 14% reduction in housing element and 25% for 2 or more bedrooms.

    Assuming you were claiming SDP because you’re claiming a qualifying disability benefit. Are you aware that you can claim for an extra bedroom if you need regular overnight care?

    Sad to see this still hasn't been sorted. After several messages in my journal still no transitional element. No money left

    This is disgraceful!! and it should have been sorted by now. I'd advise you to contact your local MP and tell them what's happened and hopefully they will contact them on your behalf. This usually gets things moving quite quickly. Make sure you tell them exactly what's happened.
