WCA wait time - over a year

Hello,

I've been waiting on a decision maker from WCA for nearly a year now regarding my case. I first applied for WCA last December (I didn't end up sending the form off due to a bereavement) and my poor mental health. I've been on sick notes for over a year and a half and my work coach says that she can't do anything about the wait time as my case is with the DM and if I cancel it then I won't be entitled to any potential back pay.

I was advised on here to speak to my local MP to hurry the process along, but this hasn't helped. Is there anything I can do to hurry this process along as I'm tempted to cancel/end this current application and start a new one as I'm not even sure I will be awarded any additional financial support for work capability at this rate given that I didn't send a form off in the first place.

Any advice and support would be much appreciated.

Thank you :)

I'm afraid all you can do is wait. There are delays in some areas. I do not advise you to cancel this and start the process again because they may not refer you again. Best thing to do is continue with this one.

    Thanks Poppy :)

I'm just feeling a little hopeless with it all as I've been waiting for so long now. I thought that maybe cancelling this case and opening a new one would speed the process up as I have no idea when the DM will get back to me. Could be in another year… and the additional work coach calls etc and pressure from these is making my health worse.

For the WCA it's not as easy as cancelling the one and starting the process again. Have you had the work capability assessment yet?

I haven’t had the work capability assessment yet. I think the decision they’re sitting on is to purely decide whether they can send another assessment form out to me or not because I didn’t send one in the first place due to my brother dying at the time of the deadline. So they don’t actually have any health/medical information within my claim yet. I hope that makes sense? :)
