    @Tumilty

    Aww I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Syd.

    Its so heartbreaking to lose one you loved so much.

    I lost two much loved elderly cats in the past and I still miss them everyday but I gave them great lives and they gave me a lot of love and joy in return.

    I miss their company so much.

    Sending you love and virtual hugs. X ๐Ÿ’•

    @Catherine21 yes the emptiness is the one & missing him, thought i just heard him run upstairs stuff like that happens everyday yes same here had around dogs in my life since you & all different which makes yer have to grieve Syd before another comes along and putting yerself through it all again but once had them in house yer can't not.. mornings are terrible when wake & think it ain't happened but don't force anything day to day, worried about elderlies as Syd got them out i fear worst for them now..

    @tomwalker i'm so sorry to hear about your situation i try to send strength to you in these times.. i get the despair thing as i have with my elderly family too looking after and seeing them decline it takes a massive toll on the depression & anxiety, then Syd it's often too much all at once he was my best friend, unconditional love.. I run & read, use pc but when overwhelmed with thoughts & memories yer don't feel social & yet feel angry in ways that they seem ok, as is grief..

    Thankyou that means a lot when you think you've cried all yer tears & then more come along especially in mornings when wake maybe have had dreams & so spaced out and then yer remember. It breaks my heart to wonder what they were thinking at the time, when he was ill & just standing looking at me as if to say 'why am i feeling this way daddy' i'll never forget that it was horrible. Yes the love we share with them reflects in the grief we suffer, it comes in waves. Thanks for your sendings, just having a weep at that thought of him looking at me not feeling well my poor little boy.๐Ÿ˜ช

    I can empathise @Tumilty losing a furry friend really is like losing your best mate. It's always heartbreaking seeing them suffering, but just know you did everything you could for Syd and I'm sure they were grateful for your love and support.
    I have a few photos of my old gal Leeloo scattered around the house and knowing she's not here still makes me sad 5 years on, but I just remember her silly face and all the good times we had together. It'll get easier, just be gentle with yourself. โค๏ธ

    I'm having a bad day, certain situations remind of certain things like when family members go to shop across rd he used to stand in window waiting for them to come back then when he saw them he'd bark & run to the door.. Things like that really upset yer, his white hairs everywhere..

    I'm sorry that you are having a bad day. Do you have any distractions techniques that you can use. For example I might have a cuppa, sleep, or I like to try and get out the house in the community for a bit.

    Thankyou Catherine, it's a had a big impact on family, the elderlies because of what it makes them do.. All the best hoping you ok.. Dark nights are **** i go to bed early then the waking up & it all comes back

    it's just dreams when asleep i wish i could select them but Syd was in mine last night & then yer wake up.. Lately i've just wanted to take a pill & carry on sleeping as that is what i used to do but as i got older the best thing is force yerself to get up and try to get back in a routine even though it is so hard & painful. I say this now but tomorrow i probably won't feel it. Mornings are terrible as i see memories of Syd everywhere.

    @Catherine21 yes we think of how things will be way before they happen especially if anxious , the worst bit is things happening in the house that happen like hearing him run upstairs when he comes in after being out. i hear stuff daily.. Yes the dark nights take time to get used to but sometimes i feel like hibernating, having a bath & going to bed early.

    @luvpink thankyou it's surreal & rubbish.

    Hi i've had a bad few days being quite lonesome, all routine has stopped, its same with my mum she has no get up & go positivity, very negative attitude always comparing herself to people in worse conditions.. even though pained, i just see after Syd died them following like the wheels falling off, its just not the same.. I kept his fave toy, why do we do that to upset ourselves.. Yes our families sometimes i think they pull you down from how you are when close to them as we become them & not ourselves. Life when smooth is ok just when bad stuff happens can't cope.. My dr gave me some diazepam but don't take at night just codeine pills. Hope your ok tonight

    Hey @Tumilty, I'm really sorry to hear you've had a really tough time. How are you doing today if you don't mind me asking?

    It can be so difficult when a pet you are close to passes away. They are family, and it can be just like losing a close family member. Do you have any other family members or friends who can support you at all?

    Hi yes it is horrible, i'm far more devastated about Syd than any other human family members that have died over the years, he was my best mate i'm heartbroken. I help out with elderly parents who loved him too & they took him out regularly for their own physical & mental health but all that has gone now.. Bit overwhelming at the moment is life & can't see it getting better.. Thanks

    Thanks, taking a bit of time to get used to change of routine & house also mi mum n dad taken turn for the worse physically & mentally after Syd went, i feared that would happen. Sedating myself, bit overwhelmed.. Hope you ok

    Thanks Catherine, yes it's pretty crappy now they sat on own in house with no distraction, Syd would be in & out the living room, in the garden etc or out for a quick walk before bed.. It's hard to get used to it all. Yes when no siblings it's hard as all responsibility on ourselves but it's not always bad as i don't get on with rest of family so in ways can be better off on own.. I like to go to bed but dreams are terrible & i hate mornings, they can be terrible if anxious & depressive moods.

    Hi @Tumilty, how are you feeling today? I'm so so sorry to hear about Syd. My parents just lost their dog and it's so hard to adapt when you're used to having them around. His name was Sparky and he followed my stepdad around everywhere so he's taking it especially hard. It will get easier over time, just allow yourself to feel what you need to and make sure that you are looking after yourself.

    Do you have any mental health support?

    Hi it's terrible, yer think yer getting used to being without him but the memories, loss & his lack of presence that bonded the house together is no more. Yes time i know but i sleep with his best toy i still see his hairs on the floor, constant reminders that part of doesn't want to see but another part of me does. I have loads of pics & vids on my phone that i'd cry so much & make myself very upset if i saw. I saw my Dr she gave me some valium, she's nice but not a miracle worker. On top of this my mum n dad being ill, especially mum & her negative attitude it is an overwhelming time

    @Catherine21 thinking of you & Fifi your words are so true, i sure love the unconditional love of a furry family member in the family more than humans as they can be evil people whereas your dogs aren't, it breaks my heart. Yes he was with me & it makes me cry recalling it,the poor boy's little head dropped in my arms ๐Ÿ˜ฅ, here i go welling up again.. Thinking of you and Fifi, yes i know that feeling. Big hugs. ๐Ÿ™
