Hello @Hales92 and welcome to the community.

Sorry I don't have brain injury, but wanted to welcome you.

As an individual I stood alone.
As a member of a group I did things.
As part of a community I helped to create change!

Hi @Hales92 welcome to the community - are you aware of Headway? Do you want to tell us a bit more about yourself?

In addition to my last comment, the very first step to recovery
in my opinion to this and in fact any long term disability is ACCEPTANCE.
If you are in the lucky position to be able to crack this one, then your on to a winner.

I have had several strokes and for 26 years epilepsy, my brain damage has in recent months badly effected my eye sight as my eyes and brain don't work together as they should.
2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

I had a brain injury (basal ganglia damaged) - in 1990 - I was diagnosed with Parkinsonism, 3 years later and since then, I have lost the use of my legs (I am immobile) and my arms are now starting to give up (I have a form of Rotator cuff on both shoulders - which is extremely painful.
I was helped by Headway some 25 years ago - but now I am left to my own devices (with my wife).
I have a metal knee (part replacement in 2016) and I suffer  from undiagnosed diahhorea/constipation - finally - I have a "lump" in my lower abdomen which I am trying to get diagnosed now - but have been refused an MRI - but keep on being offered a CT scan - which does not even penetrate to the depth of the bowels !!
You name it - I've had it - from DVT to hyperextended knee joints
    I worked full time until 2009 and part time until 2020 - I am now 60 !
