It depends on your circumstances and exactly what benefits you're claiming. You haven't given any information for me to be able to advise.

It can definitely change depending on quite a few factors. The best way may be to use a benefits calculator, as that will ask you all the relevant questions. Poppy posted one above from entitledto, but you could also try the one at Turn2Us.

Also people have said to me mirgrate yourself than waiting because you take everything over with you to universal credit even your sick pay and you don't have to then make a new claim

As we've said, it is really best for you to go through the calculators to see if you would be better off. They have programmed to give you the answers you need and are not just based from what others may think. There is quite a bit of misinformation going around about it all so it is best to be careful and check than just go by what other people are saying.
If you are really not certain you can always ask a trained benefits adviser. I recommend contacting your local Citizen's Advice Bureau.
