UC. Would I be better off claiming UC and cancelling ESA?
hi would I be better off just claiming UC and cancelling ESA not sure what to do

Hi,
From a previous post on here I can see you're getting UC with LCWRA.
Do you also get New Style ESA paid separately?
If that is the case, you won't be any better off by cancelling the ESA.

Ok, thanks.
The ESA gets deducted from UC, so you aren't any better off with or without it in terms of money.
The ESA does give you better National Insurance credits though. So it is worth keeping the ESA for that reason. Some people also find the 2 weekly payments help them budget better than the monthly payments on UC.
So just to confirm, you wouldn't be any better off by cancelling the ESA.
