You will need to report the changes to UC by logging into your journal. Carers element will then stop. Your payment date will be the same as always.

I see from a previous thread that you migrated from Income Support in September. This may mean that you haven't yet been through the work capability assessment for UC, is that correct?

If so then I'd advise you to report your health condition by reporting a change and then click health and report it through there. You will need to provide a fit note (formally known as a sick note) within 7 days of that. You will need to continue to provide them without any gaps until a decision is made on your claim.

You will then be referred for a work capability assessment usually from around 29 days after you provide a fit note. Once referred you will receive the UC50 form in the post.

If your UC includes Transitional Protection and you're found to have LCWRA then this extra element will erode this so whether you'll be any better off will depend on how much your TP is.

If you're also claiming carers allowance you will need to report the changes to them as well.

Thanx poppy ur correct, I have not been threw the work assessment, so if my disabilities premiums which are £600 a month I should not say I am unfit for work? What about my housing benefit thsnx

There are no disability premiums payable when claiming UC. Your UC will include Transitional Protection, which is different to disability premiums.

If your health condition affects your ability to work then you will need to report your health condition. If you don’t because you will no longer be a carer then you’ll be treated as a job seeker and will need to look for work and attend work focused interviews.

Help with the rent will be through UC known as housing element, unless living in either supported or temporary housing and then it will be through housing benefit.

Do you currently live with your mum? If so are you living in social/council housing or privately renting?

No I don't live with her, but if I picked it up right when I declare unfit fir work, I loose the protection

If found to have LCWRA then yes your TP will reduce by £416.19 so no financial gain. It wont be reduced if the decision is either LCW or fit for work.

You don’t have to report your health condition but you will be expected to look for work.

There will be no change to your housing element.
