Dla change of circumstances
hi I already claim dla on behalf of my son but we’ve recently had a private OT assessment done to help us get him into a specialist school and the report from the OT really highlights his needs and has recommended that my son needs specialist school setting, is it worth sending this in now to the DLA for change of circumstances now, his renewal is due any time and how do I go about change of circumstances, do I have to fill out lots of forms again?

What DLA award does he currently have?

hi he currently has low rate mobility middle rate care

For high rate care then he will need to have day and night care needs. Mid rate care is for day or night time care needs. There’s information here

Thankyou he needs a lot of care and support I will look that up, this has been the same unchanged for years I think about 5 years now.

No problem. If that care and support doesn't include both day and night time then he will not be entitled to high rate care. This link also gives information about high rate mobility.

Thankyou this is really helpful, I got told years ago by someone at a charity that he should be getting high rate for both then someone gave me the wrong advice that if I appealed we could loose it all so I didn’t appeal, this guide looks very helpful, much appreciated ❤️
