Mobility car for someonelse else
HI all
I recieved standard rate pip due to a few health conditions. I don't get anything more than that. I have my own car and drive when necessary.
My friends parent has a severe disability and recieved pip on enhanced mobility etc therefore is getting a car on his sons name who is also his carer.
Problem is the son can't drive yet but has heard he can get a car with a provisional licence but wants me to be on The licence as main driver until her get his licence.
Will this affect my pip and would I need to declare to the mobility insurance that I have pip too?
I rather keep my pip affairs seperate.
Thanks for help

You can be added as a named driver without it affecting your PIP. You will not need to tell Motability insurance that you claim PIP and you don't need to report this to PIP.
The Motability car must only be used for the purpose of the disabled person.

Thank you so much!
Could the carer learn how to drive in the car ?

Yes they can but they need to be over the age of 21.
They will not be able to claim for a grant to help with the cost of those lessons from motability. Please also be aware that some vehicles can’t be driven by those under the age of 25.There’s more information here about named drivers
