Just got a text from DWP telling me to apply for UC by Feb 8th
I was expecting a migration letter but they've sent a text. I live in Hackney borough, if that makes any difference. Anyone else got a text, should I wait for the letter?
I get Housing Benefit and Income Related ESA (Support Group).

That's ridiculously short, you should have 3 months - a week or so in the post.
I'd personally question this.

I would be concerned as to whether that text is genuine. Or did you perhaps move house and didn’t change your address and the letter went to your old address?
I would also have expected them to send texts reminders regularly and not just today out of the blue.

I’d advise you to ring the UC migration phone line to ask them if a letter had been sent out. 0800 169 0328.

Thanks poppy, I didn't move house or anything. I am a little suspicious but that phone number is the same as the one they mentioned in the text.

OK well I just rang DWP and they said they sent two letters, first one in November. I didn't receive either of them. Never mind, I think Feb 8th is still enough time to get everything done, if not I have good grounds to ask for an extension.

pburns, ask them to send you a copy of each letter they claim to have sent you.. Ask until you see them for yourself.
