yep and want to take away the pittance we get, the irony of course is these healthy lords are actually the workshy fraudsters.

the bank account thing isn't a law and has to go through procedures, then they can't just look in every account there has to be a strong reason. for example someone having over 16k for months and not telling them.

DWP already have powers to look at bank accounts, whether due to suspected fraud or during a Universal Credit check.

Apparently they want to fasttrack the benefit reforms. They can't, as there is a lengthy process to changing benefits.

They have to go through the proper channels.

exactly, fast tracking always backfires on them, they'll tread carefully after last week, thankfully.

no! it'll be slow,it can't be sped up, especially after last week, everything needs consulting on for months before it even begins going through the other stages.

No. What happened last week sent a message to the DWP and the government that they are NOT above the law and they can't do what they like and put disabled people's wellbeing in jeopardy.

There is a lengthy process to changing benefit, which will take a very long time.

This is the big issue, starmer said he was going to be ruthless with cuts, day afterthought court case. What happened to we will treat disabled people with dignity. Liar.

The lords are a curse on the British tax payer and I fail to see any reason why we need them, out of all of the 809 of them sitting they are being paid a fortune and 405 are from labour! (The rest from other parties) so remember that when you vote cause almost all of the labour MPs support this benefit cut!.

For me I dont see a single reason why we need any lords, the changes to laws and benefits SHOULD be conducted via the lower house! The lords seem to be a 'bolt on' to any decision the government makes so IF the MPs at the lower house reject it the government uses the lords as another means to be able to throw the gauntlet again giving the goverment another chance to get the laws passed.

As someone who was a labour supporter but since starmer took over i'm now "On the fence" and wont support labour anymore due to issues like this and the handling of the riots (2 tier keir) and the disgusting double standards of the grooming episode and the disgusting handling of the 'rudakubana' case, just HOW BAD can a prime minister get before he quits.

labour are NOT the party they once were as is also the tories….

6000... 16000... and of course they forgot about inflation and the cost of living for the disabled?
Less than 100000 is no longer considered impressive money. Look at the cost of houses.

    Try not to worry 💜

She can announce what she likes she can't do anything faster or differently to what was already known there's plenty of speed bumps and delays before a law is passed.

It's up to you, Well I think that's why this ramping up is happening, THEY know they are boxed in so trying to "look" tough and competent, truth is they know people across the board have had enough.

They are not getting the support they expected either reading through comment sections everywhere.

where as there are a few spiteful, ignorant *****s most people are actually seriously not impressed with our treatment.

I’ll second this. I looked on Reddit which is hit and miss with comments about people on benefits some can be quite cruel but this time every single one of them was on the side of the people on benefits. In a warped way it’s bringing people together in a hatred for the government cos they’ve peed off nearly every one
