New Style ESA Telephone appointment
Hi everyone,
I've be claiming ESA( Support Group) for 10 years. Due to the migration into Universal Credit, next week I'm due a New Style ESA telephone appointment. I'm anxious beyond words! During the telephone call, I need to accept my claim commitments, what does this detail ? And what other questions can I expect to be asked?.
I'd really appreciate any help to calm my nerves

It will be a very quick, easy and straight forward phone call. Your commitments will be to agree to report all changes and that's it, nothing else. Once the claim is up and running there will be no issues at all. Your payments will be £276.40/fortnight and the deduction from UC will be £598.86/month. It looks more than what you receive but there's 4.3 weeks in a month, not 4 weeks. UC will then top up your income.

It will be a very brief call, your only commitment will be to report any changes.

Hi,
My commitments phone call took no more than 5 minutes, if I hadn't of asked two questions it would of been even shorter!. Thankfully, we only spoke of how I need to report any changes in circumstances and that was that, very straight forward. Absolutely nothing to worry about.

You knew about the NS ESA? Well done you! None of that was explained to me, and I only found out what that meant when I joined Scope.
To date ive only had i appointment and commitments call. Finding out tomorrow about my UC award.

If someone migrates to UC from Contributions Based &Income Related ESA the process is different than migration from just Income Related ESA.
Often people only find out what their ESA is when they migrate.

Hi Catherine, 'NS' meant New Style. If you aren't in receipt of any CB ESA, it won't matter to you.
