WCA when working?

I was diagnosed with kidney cancer last April and since then have had 2 periods of absence from work, 1st was 6 weeks and most recently 4 months off. This triggered WCA questionnaire to be sent to me which I completed and returned straight away. I have just been informed I have a WCA via telephone on Monday, however, I am reading mixed messages online as to whether a WCA should be carried out as I earn over £793 a month and don’t claim PIP.

Does anyone have any knowledge on this please?

You have already been referred and have the assessment booked so the earnings limit is irrelevant now. It was the 4 months off that triggered it as you correctly stated.

I have always been above the earnings limit, does this make a difference.

The WCA and PIP assessments are two separate assessments that do not have an effect on the other. You can receive PIP and not be LCWRA, you can be assessed LCWRA and not receive PIP.

It's irrelevant now anyway because you were referred and have your assessment coming up.

If I am found to be LCWRA, would it increase my UC amount even though I am above the earnings limit?

Being above the earnings limit to be referred for the WCA is still irrelevant. Your maximum UC entitlement will increase by £416.19/month from the 4th month after you provided your first fit note. Assuming you're not claiming UC with a partner that already receives this element on your claim. Only 1 element is paid per claim.

If your UC includes Transitional Protection, this will erode when the LCWRA element is added.

If you don't have dependent children on your claim you won't currently have the work allowance. If found to have either LCW or LCWRA you will also be entitled to this. It means that some of the earnings you receive each month is ignored before deductions apply.

If you claim for help with your rent it will be £404/month, if you don't it will be £673/month. For every £1 of earnings received over those amounts your UC will reduce by 55p.
