I have to attend a local job centre to verify my identity for UC. What ID will be accepted?...
Hi.
I've received an appointment for tomorrow morning. I have to provide three forms of ID, my national insurance card, and proof of my bank details.
I only have a passport, a debit card, and I can print off a bank statement (paperless) via online banking. It says on the website that all documents must be originals and copies won't be accepted. Will printing off a bank statement via my bank online suffice, or will I physically need to go into a local branch tomorrow and ask them to give me a statement?
I live with my parents, so I don't have any council tax bills or anything like that. I'm also not married and I don't drive. The only forms of ID I have are the passport, the debit card and the ability to print or perhaps obtain a statement. The appointment was announced suddenly, so I don't have any ability to request one from the bank via the post (it won't arrive in time).
Do you think I'll be OK? What will the appointment entail? Will it be a quick process?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
All the best.

That's a very odd request for ID "national Insurance card" they don't even provide one of those anymore and haven't since 2011. I had one many years ago but couldn't tell you where that would be now.
Your passport should be fine, if it's in date, including your bank card. Yes, you can print a bank statement yourself and take that with you.

The proof of ID you have will be fine, including a bank statement. Your NI card won't be needed, just the number itself, which you would have used anyway to claim UC in the first place.

Thank you very much for your help.

I did my ID check this week. I don't have any photo ID so I took in bank statement, bank card, recent ESA letter and birth certificate in and that was enough.

The verification check took about a minute or so. I took a passport, my debit card, my national insurance card, a bank statement I printed, and a letter from ESA. She only required my passport, debit card and the bank statement. I also put my national insurance card on the table. I assume that a letter with your national insurance number on will be adequate.
Will I be moved over to UC automatically or will I have to contact ESA and tell them I'm being transferred? There is a general message on the website asking one to inform them of any other benefits one is receiving, but since ESA is stopping and I'm being transferred to UC, I assume that I can ignore this message?

Yes you can ignore the message.
UC will now contact ESA for confirmation of your award.

yes, I agree @poppy123456 .When JC asked about it and as I have access to my HMRC app through one of the government gateway s, I was able to show the NI letter from there. They were then able to print it at the JC. Wish you the very best @Craig24795 . hope all goes well at your ID check and manage to get this through..

Thank you.
I was able to verify my identity. I will receive my first UC payment in just over a week.
I have received a letter stating that my contribution based ESA will switch to new style ESA, so I'll have to agree to a claimant commitment in the near future.
Thanks for your good wishes.
All the best.

Hi
I have my appointment today, i have my passport, NHS card & Debit card which i was told at my Biographical phone call was adequate..
Will they ask any other questions about my medical or monies?.. Also i was told my 1st payment will be on 13th Sept. My Northern Counties advisor says as ESA is stopping it's all about UC now.
Regards

Income Related ESA is being replaced by UC.
If someone was previously getting both IR & CB ESA, after claiming UC they will get that alongside New Style ESA.

yes i am on income related.. Is it just about nipping in, showing id then leaving.. I had no idea about means tests & have been told that you can't have more than a certain amount & i think i'm a little above it. The lady on Biographical call didn't mention it, my advisor at Guinness Northern counties says as it's ending it's not a problem, i just wondered if they may mention it at my interview.. I'm beside myself with anxiety..
