The verification check took about a minute or so. I took a passport, my debit card, my national insurance card, a bank statement I printed, and a letter from ESA. She only required my passport, debit card and the bank statement. I also put my national insurance card on the table. I assume that a letter with your national insurance number on will be adequate.

Will I be moved over to UC automatically or will I have to contact ESA and tell them I'm being transferred? There is a general message on the website asking one to inform them of any other benefits one is receiving, but since ESA is stopping and I'm being transferred to UC, I assume that I can ignore this message?

I was able to verify my identity. I will receive my first UC payment in just over a week.

I have received a letter stating that my contribution based ESA will switch to new style ESA, so I'll have to agree to a claimant commitment in the near future.
