They’ve cancelled the elections in May round here so I can’t even vote them out. Unfortunately it’s crossed my mind with assisted dying that they’d hurry up and roll it out and make me eligible so I don’t have to put up with the pain of poverty. People with treatable mental illness have opted for it in Canada and I can see why now, no help, no empathy from the wider public and cuts from the government to what keeps me alive. Sick and disabled people shouldn’t have to be thinking like that under a labour government it’s deplorable

My fear ultimately is what has happened in Canada, disabled people who face destitution have chosen that way out so it's basically austerity eugenics isn't it? Looking at how cold and callous the Labour and Tory front bench is I can't help but think such a scenario will happen here.

My question is do Labour and the Tories want that scenario?

I don't think labour see us as humans & their pushing that narrative via main stream media

I have read a lot of backlash on X & seen certain parts of the press attacking them on the cuts.

Would love to know who would employ me as like many on here i have multiple diagnosis, ive got, 1)M.E 2)F.N.D 3)Fibromylgia 4)Asthma 5) Coeliac 6) D.D.D 7) Osteoarthritis of the spine 8) Osteopenia 9)Cysts in the spine 10)Prolasped discs that keep reacurring 11) damaged shoulders & knees plus gilberts but that does nothing really just pushes bile round my body making me a lovely shade of yellow. Add to that been treated for prediabetes & my depression NOS (whatever that means) & waiting to see if im autistic, got 43 out of 50 on the test i had to do, would of been happy with that score if it wasn't meant to be low for a pass (not autistic)

The brain fog i suffer with makes me forget so much like having the same conversation with my partner 5 times in 30 mins as i dont remember having it.

My Late father was a Union rep for the GMB, I can hear his reaction now.

The relationship with the Unions has not been good for years, But If they can keep funding Labour on the terms mentioned and lets be blunt this is what parties in power always do they drip feed out the policies so when the actual statement is released 95% of it is already out there.

there are nearly 100 MP's who unless something dramatic changes will be 1 termers.

This is just wrong, Its sadly exactly what I expected from Reeves and Kendall, Who has shocked me is Timms, The guy has always highlighted the extra costs disabled people face.

Said in a previous post the knock on effect disabled people forced into care, when local councils are already near bankrupt. It really is boiling down to the fact they do not believe

people are struggling the way we are. The media now will interview someone who is the stereotype image of what the media created, The realities of being sick/disabled wont even be covered by the Mainstream media. As long as I could vote its been Labour no matter how this unfolds I will NEVER vote for them again if still around

This is terrible news. How soon could all these cuts/reforms come into effect?

I presume this will start with new claims. I am now totally confused as to where I stand with my craft hobby that is self employment with UC. Will I just be booted out of LCWRA. Frightened.

i don't think that the government can reduce the amount that current claimments are recieving for lwrca.when they changed esa wrag to the same level as jsa they couldn't reduce current claimments it applyed to new claimments only.they also had to give transitional payments to people who are moving over from esa to uc so they won't be worse off so i don't think they can legally do this.what i think they will do is freeze our payments until it catches up.

So this is good news for people who can work but don't want to work. As long as they are looking for work they won't get.

will they be able to bring this into force straight away? Surely it must be unlawful to just cut the money you’re already getting? I just can’t see how they’ll get away with that? Or I’m I being naive here? Very worrying

It would depend if your on PIP. Currently people on ESA and not PIP are better off on UC. So you may end up about the same (depending what the cut is). Nothing to lose by applying for it.

I am in England so things maybe different. Are people from Scotland having to move over to UC or can they stay on ESA?

they haven't said that they will be taking people off pip straight away, surely it can only be done when you have your review.the tories changed dla to pip to get less people claiming it but we now know it actually increased and a lot of the descriptors were challenged and changed resulting in the dwp having to make back payments to millions.

I think it's very unfair to target new claims. I have had health issues for 26 years but worked or at times been unemployed but never claimed any type of sickness/disability. Since last year I have deteriorated and decided at the beginning of this year to go down the wca route (I'm on universal credit, unemployed and 63), hopefully lrwca . I have already had my first fit note and only two weeks left untill I get the 2nd. Will these cuts ruin any chance of getting lrwca (haven't tried for pip) if these cuts start with new claims. I haven't got it in me to job search, retrain, go on useless courses or work for another 3 and a half years until I get my state pension. Bad enough pension age has gone/going up to 67 next year, adding two years into my work life which started full-time age 15 in 1977. Adding two years after being in the workplace for 48 years (50 by 2028) is criminal. I've paid my dues to society, now I may not even get the chance to claim lrwca.
