Evening all

Thought I'd introduce myself I am Jade 30 years old! I have spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy. I have had this all my life, first being diagnosed at 18months old.. I now my cerebral palsy as a part of who I am, a super power especially as I've got older.. along with my cerebral palsy, I have tremors and other health issues  I never let it stop me living my life the best I can! ❤️
I am quite tom boyish in my style, a complete nerd. I love my football (Wolves FC 🐺) obsessed with marvel comics, love DC comics too! But my obsession is 100% more marvel. I love being creative by colouring (adult colouring books) writing poems. I just love expressing myself. I also love watching films (except for horror no thank you😱), also love me a bit of reality TV, soaps and a good series binge. Music is my escape and happy place.

I've joined  because I don't have many places to socialise or go to with anyone whom is like myself understand cerebral palsy. All my friends particular my best friend are able bodied. (She's amazing by the way a friendship of 19 + years) but just want to widen my circle and chat to others like me ! 😀

Look forward to getting to know you all! Xox

Hi J_SL93. Welcome. I hate horror films too, way too scary! I love listening to music, all sorts of music.
I have autism but my girlfriend has Cerebral Palsy. She says her type is called quadriplegic athetoid cerebral palsy with spasticity. For her it means she has a little use of one arm to operate a a device with a roller ball to type and then her device can read out what she types. We like Wetherspoons. Their curries are great. My girlfriend likes seeing her family a lot like her grandparents and keeping them company and her and her mum help with their shopping because they are getting elderly.
My friends who have power of attorney for me both have Cerebral Palsy too actually. They have me to stay with them for holidays and look after me for a week or so and it’s fun because they have two little children and I like playing with them.
Colouring books are fun and writing poetry. I liked the Spider-Man computer games on PlayStation. I like country music and sea shanties and pop music and music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. I like George Ezra.
19 years, that’s a great long friendship. I’ve had my best friend for 15 years I think. He has autism like me. We like long lunches together and walks and listening to music. Also the cinema and bowling. He likes the Marvel films a lot but he loves horror as well.
I don’t understand everything about cerebral palsy but I know it’s like my autism that it’s very different for different people, because my friends that look after me on holidays, one is in a wheelchair but he can move it himself and his husband can walk and they can both talk without communication devices, then my girlfriend needs the communication device and my other friend can’t use a communication device but can communicate by smiling. Autism is like that too. Mine means I need 24 hour care with a one to one support but I like writing and I like making friends, so I’m glad you are here to socialise and make and new friends.
I like ‘Stranger Things’ on Netflix and ‘Locke and Key’. Also ‘The Worst Witch’ and ‘The Crown’.
What are your plans for the weekend? I have volunteering work I do at the weekend.
I hope it is sunny where you are. It is here.

It's great to have you with us @J_SL93. Really looking forward to seeing you around the community. Big Arsenal fan myself and coincidentally looking forward to us embarrassing ourselves against you at the weekend!

As was mentioned, the coffee lounge is a great place to just jump in and get chatting, but you're more than welcome to join in wherever you please. In the meantime, if you need anything or help figuring out how to use the community, just give us a shout.

Just adding my hello and welcome @J_SL93 thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself, and it's great to see you settling in so well :)

I have CP myself, diplegia, I have to agree with you about horror films, anything with jump scares is terrible for my startle reflex  :D

I look forward to chatting with you more around the community soon, and ask us if you need anything!
