Wow that is interesting about the Egyptians! I never really think about crime being "a thing" at all in ancient times. I guess a lot of it was based on religion rather than actual laws?
If I remember right there was something similar in Roman times, there were women called Vestal Virgins who were highly regarded. They had a power in law - whatever they said was automatically considered to be truth (i.e. during a trial).

Yeah and there is a lot based on "respect" for the royal families too.
There is actually quite the scandal there. They had enormous privilege, but if they broke that vow of Chasity...

Quite true @Hannah_Scope
I notice this a lot with religion and old laws but why is it that (in history as most of the lawmakers and religious leaders were blokes) that blokes always wanted to decide what women could do sex-wise but they were free to do what they wanted.
I guess it happens in the animal kingdom so it's a natural reaction but I think we have moved on from being animals0 -
We have indeed! I have no idea why, but looking at how things are going in the US, it seems to be going back to that way. With religious reasons being included again.0

I noticed that too! I am not against religion at all, if people want to self-impose rules that is fine by me, but I don't think it's for one person to impose them on someone else.1

It's all a jumble out there and it confuses me as the US has freedom of religion, then only thinks about the one?
I had a lovely guy at my church who once said "just because it's what I believe, and how I live my life, doesn't give me the right to dictate it to someone else".1 -
Yeah - in my experience most religious people I have met are the same as the guy you met at church, just genuinely nice people with good morals.
