Is it cursed? 👀

Haha I must admit when my granddaughter leaves her dolls and teddies behind I chuck them in the bedroom and close the door . Â0
-
haha! @Sandy_123 My friends daughter has a Chucky doll. That I may or may not have bought her. And my friend moves it into the wardrobe when she tidy's up!0
-
I must admit that some of the dolls can seem a little scary (I guess some of the old horror movies can be thanked for that) but everyone is different and some people collect some strange things now-a-days.0
-
I collect a few things my friends and family find strange, mainly things that are Disney related0
-
Part of me doesn't believe in that sort of stuff but I'd creep myself out and not be able to own it just in case Â0
-
@Biblioklept That's what my grandmother would call Sod's Law! Don't believe in it, but it'll happen to you, haha.0

Cursed or bad luck ?
Not sure I believe in curses but do in spirits ... my late sister in her first home had a poster of Mark Bolan on the wall of the bedroom ... an old woman used to appear from it, they had to have the house and the ones eithers side exorcised because of happenings. Â
Our house is sited on the site of an old mansion that became an old peoples home. Each occupant of the 8 houses has had weird unexplainable things happen in their homes.
My daughter refuses to sleep in her bedroom when she's home and has an air mattress in the lounge after being scared as a kid
I used to be sceptical until living here, one instance is being in a friends garden 2 doors over and seeing an old woman dressed as a scullery maid through the kitchen window, as did the lady of the house ... the husband didn't believe us ... until we both wrote down what we saw on paper and were both matching
The creepiest was a childs hand print on the bathroom mirror - when no kids had been here.
Research found an 8 year girl had died in the mansion ... scoff or believe, all true and lots of other events that have me as a believer now
Will take the ghosties over china dolls ... they scare the bejesus out of me2 -
@WelshBlue I myself believe in spirit's there's things that I experienced when I was much younger and living in the family home so I don't doubt things such as you have experienced or witnessed for yourself and I've always been fascinated with things such as spirit's. Thanks for sharing.2

I don't like the painting (its the eyes), I don't believe in curses (although I do believe in the paranormal) and I wouldn't call her anything as I wouldn't have her on the wall in my flat! That said, it could be worth £20 for the frame!
I had a friend who was an undertaker. He had a painting of a girl on his lounge wall, and her eyes followed you all around the room. It spooked me out! But someone told me it is well known artist technique. Anyway, I didn't like it. A close friend of mine used charcoal to draw the face of a monk. Its eyes followed you all around the room, too! I have stayed in a cottage that was said to be haunted (my friend who drew the monk bought it) and there were a few inexplicable happenings.
As Hamlet said: “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." So perhaps it is wise to keep an open mind... but I am not too sure about curses.4 -
Wow @WelshBlue freaky2

@C_J ... sort of thing you've got to witness. Too many things personally experienced not to be a believer
@Sandy_123 ... strangely now my daughter has gone from home, experiences are not so often.
Still happen, like the smell of bread toasting at 11pm, or laying in bed hearing footsteps on the stairs in the middle of the night and reaching across hoping not to feel my wife laying there ... but she is lol
Radios turning on by themselves or getting me in trouble ...
... was lying in bed a couple of months ago, and heard a whack from the bathroom, then my wife saying, idiot, I'm behind the door ... Me: well, I'm in bed ... take it up with Sackville (the original mansion owner)
There's loads I could say about events, but I'm not scared, the living hurt you not the dead
Although not everything is paranormal.
Years ago I was on a country lane in the middle of the night, which is reputedly haunted and had to stop to check a headlight. Was parked by a hedge and could feel breath on my neck, ignoring it as much as I could
I carried on 'fiddling' ... until I felt something wet
... I don't know who ran the fastest when I turned round, then screamed ... me or the horseÂ
I'm sure it took 2 days for my heart to return to normal1 -
That made me laugh at the horse, reminded me yesterday I was preparing fresh salmon for tea and had kitchen window open, then a cat jumped in. Made me scream as I wasn't expected it. Then had to hold him back from stealing the fish.Â1

When I was younger and lived at home with my parents we lived in a old house and we often heard footsteps on the stairs and our dog was often at the top growling and barking at whatever was there. We noticed and smelt a lot of things while living there.1
-
@Steve_in_The_City your comment "I wouldn't call her anything as I wouldn't have her on the wall in my flat!" made me laugh! I always find the eyes follow you on paintings at national houses!
@WelshBlue Those are some crazy stories and I'm half thinking oh my gosh and the other half is going I want to live there! Haha. Also, my China dolls were no creepy they were the Victorian styles ones that looked a bit like they'd been in the parents makeup bag 😂 You'll have to write a book or blog about all your stories! It'd be a hit!
@C_J My dog freaks me out when she growls at something and there is nothing / no one there 👀0 -
Cats do that too stare at things when nothing is there, also lift there heads and put their ears up. Hated it when my cats did that, it's kinda freaky, especially at night0
-
Animals are very perceptive. Dogs and cats are attuned to us humans, and know things we don't. They seem to have a 7th sense.
I was with 3 friends and 4 dogs in a car on a motorway heading for Devon. One of my friends dogs was a bit viscous (she was a rescue) but was fine with me. She was sleeping on my lap, and was usually a good traveller. Ahead of us was a large lorry that we began to overtake. All of a sudden the dog on my lap became fully alert, started to bark and growl, and tried to get off my lap. We had to slow down and try to control her. This allowed the lorry to gain ground in front of us, and moments later it overturned. We would have been crushed.1 -
@Sandy_123 When I was a teen we had a cat, Leo. He used to do that but he'd look at you and tilt his head! Freaked me out 😂
@steve_in_the_City Oh my gosh! Ok, you need to write a book or blog too!Â0 -
@Steve_in_The_City ... that's freaky but in a good way. I agree that animals are attuned to us. Our pup is only 5 months old but seemed to sense when my sister died a couple of weeks ago. He was extra attentive to my wife and daughter without prompting
On the topic of animals sensing things like Sandy's cats ... last night Ruudy was staring at the open living room door, then started whining and cowering down. Was helluva wheelspin to get on the sofa behind my wife where he sat growling. Â
@Hannah_Scope ... I've always wanted to write a bookÂ
Another extract ... my daughter woke up crying one night, with a dream of a woman wanting to stab her friend from 3 doors away - turned out the woman's name matched that of the nanny who cared for the child who died here in the late 1890's ... coincidence or ... ?
I'm such a cynic in so many ways but have had to start believing in the spiritual.
My wife went to see a Medium once who told her ... your husband is very accident prone ... within seconds of her telling me, I'd stood up and was on the floor after hitting the top of my head on an open cupboard doorÂ
Personally I wouldn't call 15 visits to A & E accident prone ... I call it lucky to be here1 -
Wow @WelshBlue with stories like that you should! I have always umm-ed and aah-ed over seeing a Medium. More so because I think I'd just get yelled at by my Grandma 😂0
-
@WelshBlue You've got a good sense of humour! @Hannah_Scope Don't worry, your grandma won't yell at you. Some mediums are highly gifted, others are fraudsters - so never tell a medium anything about yourself. I do know a little about this subject.
Just in keeping with the theme of animals ('tho I do know the post is about curses!) our dog Cleo would always curl up by the front door about 30 minutes before my partner returned home from work. This would have been understandable and easy to explain if his hours had been regular, but he could return from work at any time - a few hours after leaving, or several hours. But Cleo just knew. Lots of dogs are known to do this.
Some years ago I was in San Francisco and just for devilment(!) I went to see a tarot reader who was a bit of a celeb. She told me something that seemed at best very improbable, but frankly impossible (it is too complicated to go in to detail). She told me this event would happen very shortly after my return to London. I didn't believe a word of what she told me, but two days after returning home the event came to pass in a most unexpected way. I guess it is always best to keep an open mind.
