If not, applying for that would be a good place to start. They are all different depending on which area you live so it would be best to look for that information on your local council website.0 -
Thank you
im not on the waiting list
when i felt better i went to the library and got some advice from people who does work for the council and they said to me that there is no chance to get a council property from council that the waiting list is huge , she said that more than 10000 people are waiting and i don’t like this borough where i currently live0 -
Im not able to find another place myself and don’t have nobody who can help me and it’s really hard because most landlords don’t accept benefits
and shelter mostly help homeless people or who is at risk to loose home0 -

Hi @Agnia - I think you could do with some help and support from an advocate; I don't know if this has been mentioned before. An advocate would work with you and speak up on your behalf. One of our members was helped really well by Voicability, and I hope they may be worth trying. Unfortunately they are not in all areas, but you can find out if they can help you by putting in your postcode. You can ring them, or ask for help online. Here is where you can see how to contact them: https://www.voiceability.org/

i really would like to thank you to everyone who writes to me0

@Agnia I think Chiarieds idea about Advocacy is a good one to explore
If you are unable to get support in your area with Voiceability, Mind have an information page on advocacy and lots of links to organisations that could help.1 -
Thank you @Hannah_Scope1

Hello @Agnia
It is successful to find a property whilst claiming benefits. There can be difficulties. Did you reach out to Shelter?0 -

@agnia, Pop a message in their online chat for some additional support from an advisor They'll be able to help guide you more with your search.

It will never be easy to find a landlord that will accept someone claiming benefits sadly. Living in London is likely to be even worse than other areas. Not forgetting the actual cost of rent in that area.Sometimes people post properties on gumtree so have a look on there. You will need to make sure you put the area you want to live. Please be very careful though if looking on there because there can be scammers out there.Other than that you can put your name down on the social housing list in your area but being single the wait could be many years. Another option for housing would be through a needs assessment. If it's determined that the property you live in isnt suitable for your needs they may recommend moving house but even then the wait could be many years.0
