Hello I'm new here

He certainly is one of the most infamous serial killers, I bet that was interesting but horrific at the same time? I remember there was a big thing about games like Call of Duty being too violent and whether it encourages gamers to engage in violence themselves? I can't comment, I'm not a gamer!0

Yeah, it was interesting how much theory has changed on who he was too. Yeah there was a lot of scaremongering about it, when in fact it was desensitization for a few.0

Does this mean (and I'm no psychologist!) that those playing such games become so absorbed in them, that they might not recognise violence in real life, or does it mean that they do not see the games they're playing as violent in the first place? Or am I way off with my thoughts?0

@Whiskey26 Studies showed that gamers who gamed 40+ hours a week for extended periods, tend to either take longer to show or connect to an emotional response in person. Taking what is happening in Palestine and Israel at the moment as an example. It would take a noticeable time longer than what is considered "normal" (psychologically) to respond to what they were seeing, listening to or talking about. The theory being that some games lacked emotional responses from characters in the game so it became a mimicked behavioural response. But of course, some media outlets took that as "they are just as violent". When it was in fact further from the truth.
It was interesting as other factors such as education, home life, hobbies and even hormonal development were taken into account with this. And one factor that caught me was subjects in one study aged 14-17 were more than likely to have that delay when they didn't have conversation at family dinner time vs the subjects who did.
If you are ever interested, a lot of free study journals are published on google scholar and SAGE journals on so many topics!0 -
