I just opened a new packet of coffee beans. I really like doing that, I always have to have a good smell inside after opening.

This is a nice idea, thanks for sharing! I love the smell of coffee beans too
Popping the foil seal on a new coffee or peanut butter jar is also one of life's best feelings, so that made me smile this morning.1 -

Aww that's so sweet @Ollyoyster, dogs always know when you need some love!0

Today I was made to feel very welcome in a pub. That made me smile. On my way home I got to stroke a dog (I absolutely love dogs but can no longer have one due to disability) and that made me smile and also I stroked a beautiful pure white cat. That, too, made me smile. So I guess it is the little things in life that bring happiness.4

Your so right, the purest little things, they are the best 😁0

This discussion is making me happy, because it makes me focus on the nice things that happen to me. I tend to focus on the bright side anyway, and count my myriad blessings. But this discussion is making me think more about the happier events. Today for instance I went to Sainsbury's. It is a 30 minute drag on my mobility scooter, and 30 minutes back. Along the way I crossed 2 zebra crossings. Drivers stopped, I waved a thank you and smiled, and they waved back. It made me happy. In Sainsbury's I had many offers of help and it makes me realise that people are intrinsically kind and caring. On my way home I got to stroke a beautiful white poodle. It was one of the large bred ones and not a little one. The guy who had him on a lead engaged in a really friendly conversation with me, and it made me happy.
Some months ago a lady in my local Waitrose wanted to help me transfer my purchases from the basket on my mobility scooter to the conveyor belt at the checkout. I said I didn't need any help but she said she liked to engage in a spontaneous act of kindness every day. She said it made her happy. I smiled and let her transfer my goods on to the conveyor belt. It made both of us happy, and that is the way the world works.2 -
This thread is making me smile.
I'm so glad people can take a second just to appreciate something nice. It's something everyone should do each day.1 -
@66Mustang
Another good thread thanks Mustang.😊
On my way home from visiting my mum I had a smile on my face because I felt so grateful I have her to visit after her going through cancer treatment and coming out the other end.
Also I had a big smile on my face as I proudly looked at the photo of my granddaughters class in the papers. 😊

Was yesterday, but I managed to put in a request for my Great Grandfather's World War Two records. Will take 20 working days but excited!3

@Hannah_Scope I wonder if you used the same site as I am using, I got an email from them saying it's free to use right now because of Remembrance Day.0
-
I used the National Archives, is that the one you used?0
-
@Hannah_Scope it's called ForcesWarRecords, part of Ancestry
I know you use Ancestry so perhaps you have looked there already, if not, maybe you will find something useful there I found a couple of bits of interest0 -
Seeing my grandchildren makes me smile. My grand daughters chubby little cheeks and my grandsons ginger hair. When i pull up outside my daughters house and my grandson comes out to meet me with a big hug.Watching my daughter play with her niece and making her laugh so much she couldn't eat her sandwich. That toddler laugh is enough to make anyone laugh with them. All those things and more make being a nanny the best feeling in the world.3

I like this post and think it should carry on.
@grinchy, what's in the booooox?! (it's ok, you don't need to answer, I just couldn't resist that quote.)
Today, sis buying me an advent calendar made me smile.3 -
@Albus_Scope what sort of advent calendar? A traditional chocolate one or one of those modern ones with some sort of crazy theme? Or just a nice card one with a picture in each window?1
-
Thanks @Albus_Scope, yeah it is a good quote, it was the Hellraiser boxset
Glad you got an advent calender, never to old i firmly believe1 -
When I was at the hospital volunteering I went up for the coffees because I wanted to be independent so I went up got the coffees but the lady who worked in admin saw that I needed help and helped bring the coffees downstairs for me.2
