Lcwra renewals/reassessment

Hey everyone. Can someone give me any advice with regards to lcwra renewals/reassessments. I was awarded it via tribunal In Dec 2022. On my journal I've been told that it will be reassessed around mid December 2023. I've read so many things regards to reassessments being suspended. Is this still the case. Isit likely my reassessment will be anytime soon? Any advice would be great please. I suffer so badly with anxiety and I'm so worried about it.

Thank you so much

    Edit. I was told mid December 2023 that it was due for reassessment. When I asked how long the award is for. When I asked back in April.

    Limited re-assessments took place earlier in the year as a trial, with them expected to resume full swing at the end of this year, so around now.
    I haven't heard anything more up to date.
    Even when they do re start, there will be significant backlogs for the DWP to do anyway, and no one knows how they will decide how to work through in selecting people. Could be random, could be those who are years overdue first, could vary by area, no one can tell.
    No news is good news at the moment I think.

    It's pointless asking when your referral date is because it doesn't mean you will be referred on that date. It's just a guide. LCWRA is an ongoing award until a new decision says otherwise, it doesn't have an end date.

    Okay thank you. I think it's just because I'm so stressed and my anxiety is through the roof. I had to fight for it. And go to tribunal. 10 minutes on the tribunal phone call the judge said I should of been awarded it from the start and shouldn't of needed to come to tribunal. I think I'm just over thinking it and really worried about it being re assessed.

    Many people find the waiting stresses them and makes their anxiety go through the roof but you have to try to focus on something else and yes i know how difficult that is. Thinking about it all the time isn't going to help at all.

    At least when you're claiming UC if you have access to a journal when it's time for your review, you will receive a letter on your journal telling you they are referring you. A few days later you should receive the form in the post.

    Can you explain what this means please. The government have literally just added this. Does this mean people who currently get lcwra will from now on never face a re assessment? That it's paused now and won't return in 2025? I'm so confused. Thank you

    81. Changes to the WCA activities and descriptors will be implemented nationally, no earlier than 2025.

    82. We want claimants who have already been assessed as having LCWRA to be able to engage with support to move towards work without the fear of reassessment. We have committed to ensuring no one currently assessed as having LCWRA will face a WCA reassessment, save in some exceptional circumstances. This will in effect abolish the WCA for this group, bringing forward a key element of our Health and Disability White Paper proposals and give people the confidence to try work.

    83. Following the implementation of these changes, reassessments for people who have LCWRA will only take place under very limited circumstances which are:

    • When a claimant reports a change of circumstances in their health condition;
    • If a claimant has been awarded LCWRA for pregnancy risk, or cancer treatment where the prognosis for recovery is expected to be short-term;
    • If a claimant has been declared as having LCWRA under the new risk provisions; and
    • In the case of suspected fraud.

    @user20001111 that's a big question in which no one can actually answer because the Government haven't given any further details.

    I do know that some people have been contacted in the past few weeks for a review so your guess is as good as mine. There's many other threads here regarding the announcements made in last weeks budget.

    It's very misleading and whoever wrote it should go to English Evening Classes and if they don't face a sanction.

    Just had an update from DWP FOI. Reassessments are no longer suspended and will continue as usual for LCW and LCWRA until the WCA changes in 2025.

    Very disappointing news.

    They were always due to restart from the end of the year. Any possible changes aren't due to take place until 2025 anyway. Some people that are LCW/WRAG have already been contacted in the past few weeks based on threads on here.

    Just how long are we talking back log wise? … will this ever rectify surely if there’s a back log now, it will continue to roll on for those who have been reassessed already. It’s a never ending cycle? No? … what’s the point the system is clearly broken and just adds stress and upset. How can they continue to do this to us?

    There’s always been backlogs for as long as I can remember. When assessments started back during Covid they concentrated on new claims and change of circumstances only. Reviews were kept on hold because of that.

    For PIP they prioritised new claims and they’ve continued to do that since assessments started back during Covid.

    Review backlogs have just got worse over time and some are waiting as long as a year for a decision on reviews.

    Hey everyone. Is there any further  updates to the re assessment/reviews. Anyone know how long the back log is? This is still weighing heavy on my mind. Thanks

    I'm only aware of them reviewing those that have LCW or WRAG (ESA) at the moment. Those that have LCWRA are still not being reviewed at the moment.
