DLA and PIP award

Hi All, This is my first time. I have been receiving DLA for a few years. My circumstances have changed and my conditions have worsened. I informed DLA in Aug and they sent me a PIP form. I have received a text that says I have been awarded PIP. I see that DLA is not back dated. However, will the PIP award be back dated to when I told them, if it has an increase in award. Thank you kind people for any help.

Unfortunately, when transferring from DLA to PIP, even if the PIP award is higher than the DLA award there will be no money owed. Your PIP payments will start about 7 weeks after the PIP decision was made.

DLA can't be backdated because it no longer exists and any changes mean a claim for PIP.

Thank you Poppy. Does that mean my pip will be from the date the form was sent in. Less payments received DLA while awaiting for the PIP decision from ?

No, that's not what i advised. You will not be owed any PIP money because you transferred from DLA. You will receive one final DLA payment and then your first PIP payment will be about 7 weeks after the decision on the PIP was made.

When you receive the decision letter it will tell you when your first payment will be.

So I have been waiting for 6 months for a pip decision and they have awarded me the enhanced rate on both components. But because I receive a low rate DLA I do not get the money from when I asked for the review? Seems unfair when people whom ask for a review while on PIP will get it from the date they requested the review.

Yes, that's exactly how it is. I'm afraid it's the law and has been since PIP was introduced in April 2013. PIP is a completely different benefit and changes couldn't be reported to DLA because it no longer exists.
