New to this as friend suggested give it a try. I'm mid 50s and house bound but can go out with help as need someone to push my wheel chair. Winter time is probably the worst time as dark, cold and damp and think it affects most people. I always keep positive and try and make the most of a difficult situation but feel I need and want more friends

Hi @Nicky57 and welcome to the community. How are you doing today? Winter can definitely be a tough time for a lot of us, you're not alone there.
If you're looking for a fun place to start, Coffee Lounge is great for casual chats, or there's also the Games Room if you fancied just taking your mind of things with some games. Take a look around and get stuck in whenever you feel comfortable. Our members are all very friendly and welcoming, I hope you'll enjoy getting to know everyone!1 -
Thanks, like everything takes a while to get used to new web sites! Yes I'm totally ready for Christmas and presents have been bought and wrapped for ages. I'm rubbish at wrapping gifts so a friend offers every year and we have lunch and some mulled wine to get us in the Christmas Spirit. Just waiting for everyone to collect their gifts. I'm very lucky as I stay with friends for Christmas and they are picking me up Christmas Eve so will be with them a few days. It's quite an upheaval staying with some people as can't manage stairs/normal toilets etc but I've stayed many times with these friends and have learnt how to get about their home ie sit on my bum to get downstairs and have a perching stool in their bathroom to help me get on and off loo etc. Their strong and sturdy arms are also available to hold on to when I've run out of furniture or walls to hold on to! I'm very independent so always do what I can as long as I feel safe.1
