Not feeling "with it"

I can't really explain but for the last week or so I have been feeling like I'm not all there, I would describe it as "distant" or "fuzzy-headed".
I don't drink heavily anymore but used to and would describe it as the feeling you get the morning after a drinking session - not the headache but the distant feeling.
Nothing has changed with my medication and I don't have a cold or anything that I am aware of.
I am otherwise feeling good (for me) - positive about the future and no huge additional stresses aside from the ongoing ones.
Any ideas? Has anyone else ever felt like this?

Oh my daughter actually said this to me this morning honestly.She said she feels she’s just going through the motions.
I think it could just be all the buzz off Christmas and new years over and things are quieter.January is always to me quite a dreary month.Sorry if this isn’t what you mean and I hope you feel more like yourself soon my friend.

That's interesting that you get like it as well, foggy is just how I feel, and similarly to what you say, can't seem to identify some of my emotions. Nothing seems clear. I also feel like I may have done something wrong but I don't know what?
Often I'd get it in the mornings but would feel sharper after a coffee and a shower but that doesn't seem to make a difference at the moment.

Hmm, only one meal a day? I used to do that when my Crohn's was very bad. Some dietary things can takes week to appear. For example your liver can store a lot of B12 to last you a while, so even if you stop getting B12 it will take weeks to months for you to start being deficient in it.
I'd maybe see about getting some blood tests done to see if you are deficient in anything? I have to take Folic Acid and get B12 injections because I cannot naturally intake B12 anymore for example. If I don't get my injections I get very tired even with lots of sleep and get brain fog. A lot of things can cause the two, so I'm not saying you definitely are deficient in something, but it's worth a check?1 -
It may be down to a lack of VitD, a bit like the winter blues.I sometimes get a muzzy head, hard to shake off & never knowing why.0

I only eat one meal a day too, have done for years. With that & very low carbing, I control my diabetes with no medication & am in 'remission'. So depending how you go about it, I think OMAD is actually quite healthy. Shame it doesn't help with much else, apart from giving me something to focus on.

I'm another that only eats one meal a day. Personally I made the conscious decision to change to wholegrain foods when I was first expecting; haven't eaten cakes, biscuits, etc. for years, apart from a couple of occasions, & avoid processed food.I'm going to promote it again, as I think you 'are what you eat' to a very great extent. I personally couldn't survive on one meal a day, my diabetic nurse advises little and often. I also went over to whole meal foods with the exception of rice, as I don't get on with cooking wholemeal rice, horrible stuff in my opinion. I try to only have foods in their natural form, to limit processed and wild salmon not farmed etc. Also aiming at 5 a day. If I ate just once a day I would be on the floor.1

I switched to wholewheat bread and pasta about fifteen years ago @Sandy_123,I can't be doing with brown rice though.

For me personally @ada I have to eat more then once, 1 because I take meds that have to be on top of foods to lower my sugars. As well as meds before food I've just taken some now and will have to have a nibble of something before bed
If some people can do one meal that's good, because we all don't have the same medical problems1 -
I find all these zero sugar items have sweeteners in like diet coke etc1

Yes @Sandy_123 and there are always those nasty little bits that don't cook at all.

I always feel much better when I don't eat. I completely turned my health around and lost 100lbs over the course of a year from 2016/17 using every other day fasting. I stopped wheezing, my headaches went away, I could walk quickly and for miles. I felt brilliant, so clear headed.
Now that I eat more again I feel so bad. If I want to get anything done I have to skip breakfast so that I can get through it. Digesting food takes an awful lot of energy and it doesn't leave me able to do anything else at the same time. Far from giving instant energy food actually depletes energy in the short term.
I ought to go back to intermittent fasting. My weight has crept up again although nothing like as bad as it was in 2016 but my head just isn't in the right place at the moment:(
I never eat wheat or anything processed or anything with sugar and so don't get cravings but I fall down on portion sizes and the amount of olive oil I cook with. Which will have to change when my current stockpile runs out anyway as the price has gone up so high:(
OMAD definitely sounds like a good idea to me. The science is behind it, plus personal experience.0 -
