I’ve just noticed that the ability to edit our comments has changed from 59 minutes to just 15 minutes. Anyone else notice this?
Is there any reason for this? It’s extremely annoying having an even shorter time to do this. I edit comments quite a lot if I miss any information out when I first comment.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

I noticed this too, I edit my comments a lot as well as I am quite forgetful when I write things.
Lots of forums I am on you can edit whenever you want, even a year later.
I guess there's a reason for it, maybe to stop people posting something then sneaking spam into their post a week later, but not sure. -
I'll look into this, I haven't been aware of any changes.
There are reasons we limit how long edits can be made yes, there's a number of ways editing much older posts can unfortunately be misused/abused.They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

I to think 15 minutes is no time at all, the hour sometimes wasn’t long enough.

Agreed 15 minutes isn't enough tine, even 60 minutes isn't always long enough2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

Hi folks, thanks for letting us know. We've had a look into it and it looks like the platform we use had a bit of a funny five minutes and decided 15 mins was plenty of time. This will be remedied soon.
But as Jimm has said, we do need to keep a limit on how long people can edit for, as people have abused the system in the past. So we're just wanting to keep everyone safe.Albus (he/him)

Thanks for raising this and for everyone's feedback. We're looking at resolving this as soon as possible. Hopefully you should see it resolved by the end of the week.Community Manager

I'm taking this to literally mean the ability to edit a comment will return to 60 mins, i.e. the problem with the platform will be 'solved' soon? I thinker longer edits were considered potentially problematic, but not hopefully 60 mins (tho I've seen instances!), but appreciate that some sort of compromise must have been made some time ago.

Oh yes I did thanks it was good to get out for a while. ❤️ -
Yes, went down to 15 minutes but nothing today -
Hey everyone, we are trying to get this resolved. Those with the Disability Gamechanger rank should have 60 minutes to edit their posts. We do not want the timer set at just 15 minutes. We had no plans to change it from 60 minutes at all, we certainly see no need to reduce it anymore than 60 minutes.They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

We've always have had some restrictions on editing and will continue to do so. Sadly it is a function that gets abused, with members posting content they know is not allowed and then editing it out. Particularly when the community team are not around to see it. The smaller the window for editing, the less likely this is to happen and the smaller audience that can then be affected by the inappropriate content.
Hopefully it's sorted now and you should be able to edit within 60 minutes of posting, but if anyone is having any issues, please let me know.Community Manager

I deleted stuff I’ve written quite often. But not because it’s nasty or breaking rules. It’s because I am normally talking about my illnesses and by the time I get to the end. I don’t have the confidence to post it. As I don’t have the confidence in my ability to not appear a idiot.
especially if I feel unsupported or patronised Which seems often recently -
Adrian, I still have zero editing time
-
..very few notifications either. I usually assume it's me when things don't work of course -
I also don't have the cog for editing now.
