Hello everyone,

I am new here and have found everyones posts extremely helpfull so far so wanted to thank you all!
Also wanted to ask 2 questions regarding LCWRA

1/ how long after a health assessment has people had to wait for the decision on average?
I read online it can take between 4-6 weeks if I'm correct - just wondering if anyone has had thiers sooner in 2024?

2/ also has anyone been awarded lcwra for bipolar, anxiety depression and ocd?

1/ Up to 12 weeks after the report is returned is the timescale. Though some people have a decision a lot quicker than that. If this is for UC and you have access to a journal the decision letter will be uploaded onto there once it's made.

2/ It's not awarded based on any diagnosis and as we are all affected differently by those conditions, then it's not possible to compare 2 people. The good news is the stats say that the majority of people are found to have LCWRA.

    Thank you poppy! 😊

I thought as much..I am under u.c so that's handy as it will hopefully be alot faster than waiting for a letter!

That's quite a relief regarding the stats as I do struggle daily and haven't been able to work for a while.

5 weeks 3 days after health assessment was awarded lcwra for my long list of mental health issues

Would advise anyone waiting to call u.c
They can push for the decision sooner and give a very valuable insight into where exactly you are in terms of waiting and if and how long it's been with d.m

I had a wca in Nov still waiting on outcome had to give up carers allowance due to health reasons now got a commitments interview on weds because I wasn't informed that my carers allowance needed to be cancelled by myself which I did 16th march I have asked about my wca assesment and out come and all I get is it's in a assessment cooling off period which means I don't know and if my wca is successful I won't have to go to commitments interview which is on weds I got all medical and drs letters put in all fit notes since aug and stopped the carers and still have a heart condition and now only getting u c and detucted the carers so do i just wait on decision as I I have no idea how this works was getting income support and carers then UC and carers to ill to carry on caring now gotta see someone about commitments I take this is normal

Commitments would be normal at this point because you are no longer a carer and haven't been found to have LCWRA.

Did you have a medical assessment in November, or was this when you returned the form?

If you had the actual medical assessment you should have had an outcome by now.

If that's the case then I'd recommend speaking to the assessment provider.

If you had an assessment in November with the assessment provider confirming the report is with the DWP, I'd recommend making a complaint:

    https://makeacomplaint.dwp.gov.uk/

Timescales for a decision following an assessment are anything up to 12 weeks so you should have had a decision letter by now.

The cooling off period refers to the waiting period for LCWRA element to be paid.

For the first three full assessment periods (dating from your first Fit Note and assuming no gaps giving them to UC- it's that date that counts not the start date on them) no money is paid or subsequently owed in backpay for that waiting period.

Thanks for the advice I understand the 3 month assessment period you don't get paid for all I wanted to know is what the outcome of my assessment was as they will probably find a reason to keep me hanging on even longer if I put a complaint into them I have got my commitments review tomorrow and speak to them about this situation hope they can help if not then I will put a complaint in thanks again
