Chinese…. cars???

Many Chinese car brands sell in the UK, and one you might recognise is MG. Originally a British manufacturer, MG is now owned by the Chinese car giant SAIC Motor. While MG retains a design and engineering presence in the UK, its production facilities are primarily located in China.
China has firmly established itself as one of the world's largest car producer and exporter.

Trump is a nasty piece of work - an international bully - he charged China with tariffs at 34% but when China hit back with the same deal - Trump doesn't accept it and ups China to 104% - that's absolutely ridiculous
Do “Freeports” somehow alleviate Trumps new tax regime ?

The original Chinese cars are of very poor quality. They are more like mock-ups of cars. You can ask the "happy" owners.

Freeports don’t erase tariffs, they just postpone when businesses have to pay them. Once goods leave the Freeport and enter the market, normal taxes and tariffs kick in as usual. They’re useful for managing costs, but they don’t create a way around trade rules.

To be fair, I’ve never owned a Chinese car, but I do know the Chinese are huge in the car industry. That said, some of the parts in my car could very well be Chinese, especially that bossy, paranoid computer system that not only makes driving unpleasant but sees hazards everywhere!
I miss the days when you just got in a car and drove, no alarms, no flashing messages, no panic! If you ever pass a distressed woman driving along shouting at her car, it’s probably me!0 -
I have to say, some of the new Chinese electric cars look really good and seem like good competitors for Tesla. Though after seeing how badly the cybertruck is made, that's not really saying a lot. 😅

Chinese cars are never going to be classic "E-type" or similar - they are cheap, reliable and available, which is what most people want - so will sell, in vast numbers - once people get over their "Chinese car syndrome"
I remember when the problem was Japanese cars in the early 70's - look at them now !

There is talk of insider trading in DC, after Trump appeared to tell his Truth Social followers, that it was a "great time to buy", shortly before pausing his tariffs for 90 days.
I read that a certain Marjorie Taylor Green made 6 figure investments.

😲 now why doesn't that surprise me !

Eager young spokesperson says he is just demonstrating his art of the deal. I think she said deal, not steal!

MTG is a known Trump ally - and if she's making money, you can be sure that the orange man is making even more - that's the reason that he is so happy about the bear market !
If only there was an independent person to rule on this…….

@Ranald 'art of the steal' sounds more like it !

Saying about tarriffs , Trump putting 10% tarriff on the small island of Mcdonald and heard when the only inhabitants are penguins!, Also someone said in a comments it was also due to the island doing the same to America. What on earth are the penguins up to 😆
