PIP form - can you print off typed answers?

My ESA is £318.10 a fortnight. Family member I live with does get enhanced daily living.
Never heard of SDP before, I suppose I will see if the PIP letter might mention this. I need to see what award of PIP they have given me.
In my notes and looking at points, I anticipate enhanced daily living, and I could potentially be a point or so less and get standard mobility. I think if I were to get standard daily living I may need to look at disputing that.

Thank you. Your ESA is definitely Income Related. SDP is a disability benefit that's paid if you live alone or treated as living alone and no one claims either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you.
Once you know what PIP award you have if it includes any daily living part then you'll need to ring ESA to ask to apply for the SDP. The form can be filled in over the phone and will take about 15 minutes. It will be paid from the start of your PIP award and is £81.50/week.
If your family member also claims a legacy benefit such as Income Related ESA/JSA or Income Support or Pension Credit and no one claims either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after them then they can also claim the SDP.
If they claim UC then it's not payable for this.

One thing I’ve just thought about and been Googling is savings. As I don’t get out so much and have few bills as I don’t live alone.
I am certain if they backdate my PIP, I think this will put me over the savings limit. I read this limit is £6,000. I expect when PIP payment comes I will be over this limit.
This should go down relatively fast though as I need to get my head around trying to go to private pay-for appointments and speaking (I feel so horrible when I have to pass notes). Expecting to pay for x-ray and possibly dental treatment following advice of NHS Orthodontist hospital appointment. In addition to another camera procedure which should be <£3,000. I have other surgeries I want to do too after waiting so long on NHS.
Also, @Poppy123456 if I understand you correctly regarding SDP. That reads like it’s only if I live on my own, so if I feel confident enough and have the extra income soon to try and live independtly, then I should look at SDP at that time. Am I understanding this correctly?
Thank you.
If it’s ok I may reply next once my PIP award letter arrives if I have any concerns with this.0 -
Money owed from PIP is disregarded for 12 months so will not be counted in with your savings.
You have misunderstood my advice about the SDP. You need to live alone or be treated as living alone. Treated as living alone means all the adults that live with you must either be registered blind or claim a qualifying disability benefit theirself.
The person you live with claims daily living PIP. This means if your PIP includes the daily living you will be entitled to SDP.
Here's an example for you. I live with my adult daughter, no one else. We both claim daily living PIP. I claim Income Related ESA and because of this my ESA also includes the SDP. If she wasn't claiming daily living PIP then I wouldn't be entitled to the SDP.
See link.
Edit to add, you can reply anytime, there's no rush.

Oh yeah, I certainly misunderstood SDP, thanks for the example. I’ll have to look into this more once the PIP letter arrives and try and see what to do from there.
My mum has PIP enhanced both alongside pension, my elder brother with learning difficulties has daily living standard.
I wonder if they could have had the SDP benefit all this time then? I live with them but have only been on ESA until this recent PIP text the other day. I guess then as I live with them and was not previously on PIP then I cancelled out their SDP?Sorry, I don’t want to overload and split the conversation. I know it’s best to wait for my letter to arrive and see what my PIP award is before thinking too far ahead.

Once you know what your award is please come back and I'll advise you further.

This number called today twice 08000232635.
I googled it and it appears to be DWP. I wish they wouldn’t ring as they have already texted me last week about PIP.
No one is with me just now that can take the call. Perhaps they’ll try again tomorrow and someone else can answer then. I don’t know why they feel the need to call though if they have already done the decision as recent text said.

That's exactly what I did - I was sent an "active pdf" version (ie one that you can type straight in to) - I emailed it back to them .. waited and then a month later, I was successful - no assessment/phone call - no nothing - I was given a 10 year award !

That's a good suggestion, I do personally dislike the default use of phones when we have email.

Is it normal for them to call after I've already received a text saging they have awarded PIP?
They've been good to let me side-step an assessment, so I am worried with why they are phoning me now. I did give them my email address in my form answers as my preferred method to communicate.

If they ring again today is it OK to continue to ignore it? The previous text said they are sending a letter explaining things.
A little frustrating because Assessor was clearly considerate to consider my concerns and GP report and thanjfully saw fit to not call me or ask me to go assessment.
I can only assume this is the call centre staff that are ringing and unaware of my difficulties. I know I can pass the phone and have family speak for me, but I've been surprised thus far that I've got this far, with a decision too, and not having had to speak to anyone until the recent calls.
I did Google the phone number again and saw a few posts claiming it's in relation to ESA, I hope that's not the case. The one thing I was worried about with starting the PIP claim is that this might trigger ESA again.

It will not trigger anything bad with ESA. Reviews are still suspended anyway for money people in the Support Group.
They may have rang about the SDP, which the do sometimes. I would say it's nothing at all to worry about.

If it is about SDP, they may send you the forms by post if you don't answer the call. That's what happened in my case, though it was a few years ago now.
The other call is the one about PIP asking to confirm bank details and whether you've been in hospital or prison. That's another one from a call centre which doesn't necessarily have access to our contact preferences.

I have just received a payment. If I understand correctly this should be backdated to the phone call date of requesting the claim form. This was 20th May.
Would this be a back payment for May, June and July, and then August will be a separate payment? Or do they typically include your first monthly payment in with the back pay?
Sorry, I'm up late and was trying to work it out. Maybe the letter will be here in a few hours, if not today, then tomorrow.

PIP is a weekly benefit, paid 4 weekly and not a monthly benefit. It will be from the date you rang to start your claim up to a certain point, which is the cut off date. What that cut off date is, I have no idea sorry. Up until 19th August it will be 13 weeks. This may help you work out what your award is but you may not be able to work it out exactly.

Thanks poppy. The decision letter arrived a little earlier. Just had a look at it and still processing it.
They awarded me daily living enhanced and mobility standard. I'll double check my notes later but I think I was anticipating this award, and worst case I thought they might have have given a few points less and knocked me down to standard on both. I'm relieved that they seem to have got it correct right out of the gate.
I've not had a proper look at fhe break down of points yet. I put the letter away now, but I do recall they awarded 10 for mobility.
The payment covers 20 May - 14 Aug, according to this letter. It says it's for 2 years, I hoped this might have been longer given ESA haven't contacted me for 6 years.
They did note that they considered my PIP form answers and also my GP report. They don't seem to have made any reference to the additional evidence hospital reports that I sent in.
I would like to know if they received that. I did request it be shredded after their decision. I also sent them a list of questions with the form which they have not answered by email. I thought they may have put their answers in this letter.
Thankyou again poppy and scope community for your support, it's highly appreciated.

That's great news @W348! 2 years is a standard timeframe. They base it on how likely it is that your condition may change. Try not to worry about that now and focus on the positive 😊

That's great news! Now regarding the SDP. I remember that you're living with your mum and your brother and they both claim either daily living PIP, DLA mid/high rate care or AA, is that correct?
If so then you'll be entitled to the SDP in your ESA, which will be paid from the start of your PIP award in May. You can ring ESA to claim this and is usually the quickest way to claim it.
Does your brother claim any other benefits? if so which ones please?
Your mum, is she claiming her state pension? sorry but can't quite remember if you mentioned this or not?

I am pretty sure brother is on daily living standard and ESA (not support group). Mum has daily living enhanced and state pension.
Does SDP require an additional assessment? I wouldn't want to apply for it if there's a risk of an assessment for it, or if ESA review may be triggered again after so long.
Thanks

No, you will not need another assessment for SDP. It's not a benefit on its own, it's a disability premium payable on top of your Income Related ESA. It's extremely easy to claim and all they will want to know is who you live with and if anyone is claiming either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you.
If your brother is claiming Income Related ESA then he will also be entitlement to SDP so he can also ring ESA to ask to claim it. Providing no one is claiming either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after him.
For your mum, SDP is paid in with Pension Credit, providing no one is claiming either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after her. She can use a Pension Credit calculator here to see if there's any entitlement.
