Pip decision
Hi everyone. I had the telephone assessment 4 weeks ago. I had the text saying that no decision has been made etc 10 days ago and had the letter saying that they have all the information we need etc 8 days ago. It's really been stressing me out waiting for a decision so today I bit the bullet and rang the pip number. The lady said that a decision had been made 2 days ago and I should receive a letter in approx 10 days but she said that she didn't know what the decision was. Does this sound right? Or don't they give out bad news over the phone. Its making me more stressed so any input from you guys would be a great help. Thanks everyone, Chris.

Heya @chris321chris and welcome to the community. 😁
That's perfectly a normal PIP timeline, so I'd try not to worry too much about it. I had exactly the same thing happen with mine recently. The letter took 9 days to get to me, so hopefully they wont keep you waiting too much longer. Will you let us know how you get on please?0 -
Thanks. I thought that it was just a way of saying that my claim was denied

Usually they will tell you what the decision was over the phone. You can either wait for the letter or ring again to speak to someone different and they may tell you.

Thanks Poppy. The lady said that the decision was reached on Tuesday but she couldn't see the result, it sounded strange to me so I thought it might have been bad news for me. I might wait until tomorrow and give them another ring.

It takes up to 24 hours for the system to update after a decision is made and until that time they can't see it. I would expect them to be able to it by now with it being 2 days later. Unless it's not the actual decision that's been made and it's a different letter they sent out.
Is it a first time claim or a review? If a first time claim them they often (not always) send a text if there's an award. Texts are not sent if there's no award. If it's a review they do not send a text if there's an award.

Its a 1st time claim. Started the claim beginning of March so the timeline is about right I guess. It just sounded strange that she said that she couldn't see the result of the claim.

Phoned again today and spoke to a different person, he said the same thing - they don't give out decision over the phone. I guess I will just have to wait for the letter. It's stressing me out not knowing.

Very strange because usually they do give decisions over the phone for PIP.
It’s those living in Scotland claiming ADP when they won’t give decisions over the phone.

I live in Wales, just wondering if my claim was unsuccessful and they don't do that over the phone?

PiP applies to Wales and yes they should tell you over the phone. There will of course be some call centre staff that won't tell you, as you've found out. All you can do now really is wait for the letter.

@chris321chris I'm sorry you weren't awarded anything. Are you going for a mandatory reconsideration?

Hey! 😊
I was told over the phone, they are definitely allowed to do it, maybe some staff are not as helpful!,I would try again, I’m sure you will never get the same person twice!0 -
I phoned 3 times and spoke to a different person every time, every 1 of them said that they couldn't give out the decision over the phone. Maybe they only do this if you are not awarded anything? Yes doing a M R. Started writing it today but don't really know how to word things.

It’s so weird I called today and she said I should receive a text in around a week and when I have the text they will tell me the out come? Maybe it’s in different parts of the country?

Maybe, but isn't it the same phone number?

You have to stick with why the descriptors apply to you, don't get into criticising or arguing with the opinion of the assessor. You have to explain why the assessor has got it wrong based on a misunderstanding or assumption on incorrect information, then go on to explain why you fit the descriptor, also remember that you only pass the category if you can do the activity repeatedly, reliably, safely and as often as required and you have to be able to do it more than 50% of the time. So if you can only do something on 40% of days, that counts as you not being able to do that activity, for whatever reason is listed in the descriptor. Just stick with the facts, not the opinion of the assessor.

Hi everyone, I sent my MR nearly a month ago, I haven't heard anything yet. Am I supposed to get a text or anything from them to say that they have received it?
