Settling mum's estate
Hi everyone
Recently my mum passed away. 8 was gutted but i know she was terminal. It was her time..an amazing mum.
She had no will. I've called DWP and she's told them. (She had a state pension).
My question is am I automatically executor? I have a disability myself and I'm not great at this kinda thing now. (MS is 15 years).
Will this effect my benifits? I'm on no means tested benifits. Only contributions based esa.
I am an only child
Many thanks

I've answered on your other thread:
When my Nan died with no will, my Aunt & Cousin were too unwell so my Mum took on the administration of Nan's simple estate, with myself acting alongside her for the more minor matters.

Sorry for your loss. I wish I could help. My Mum passed away last October (she was 105!!!). She had a will, which in my view wasn't at all complicated. The solicitors are still "working on it" all these months later. I had to use the solicitors my parents had chosen as they were named executors in the will along with me and my brother. I think they are milking it for everything they can, and we have been pressing them to get on with it, but they charge more for every email/phone call/letter at around £200 - £250 each. I think it is a rip off.
